So what has the loss of Knight and Surtain done to your secondary? I know you still have Madison, but I'd think the loss of a couple vet leaders like that would leave a mark. Are you guys missing either?

Both have been pretty good for KC.

Knight has probably offered more as a leader/field general than anything, but he hits hard and is still a ballhawk. His coverage skills have been average, but certainly no worse than what we had before. Don't know if you guys saw it, but he had a long fumble recovery returned for a TD last week.

Surtain hasn't had to do much. Teams aren't testing him, but the other side of our secondary is so weak, they haven't had to. When Warfield gets back, we'll have a better idea of what kind of CBs we have.

we miss surtain. You wont here hsi name called a lot or see him in a play, thats cause he shut down his reciver. We got some growing pains in our secondary right now.

We feel the loss of Surtain more than we do Knight. I think our new safeties (Lance Schulters and Tebucky Jones) have been pretty solid for us thus far. We are having growing pains at the CB position. We lost one of our CBs (Will Poole) to injury; whom we thought would be the heir apparent to Surtain's departure. We have a rookie (Travis Daniels) starting in his spot now, he is playing some decent football for us, but he makes a rookie mistake once in awhile.

In retrospect, we haven't missed a beat without Sammy Knight, I think we are better at that position now. We are weakend by the loss of Surtain :( .

I have watched all the kc games up to now...

Knight was never a ball hawk but he hits hard and plays good vs the run

Surtain has slowed down for you guys he got beat a couple times then he would of 2-3 years ago

both are good additions for you guys but I expected surtain to play better

Anytime you lose a guy of Surtain's talent, it hurts. Unfortunately, $9M against the cap is unbearable for a player who's still good, but on the downside of his career. Not to say he can't play a few more years, and he's a hard hitter too - so a move to safety, in the right scheme, isn't out of the question.

I do miss Knight, because he's got that knack - like Zach - of always being around the ball. He's a good player in the right assignment.

The Surtain loss was huge for us. I hear a lot how Surtain has lost a step, but I've watched every fin game Surtain ever played in and I never noticed. I know it's the popular thing to say once a CB gets in his late 20's/early 30's, but I don't know if there's much truth to it. Much of it probably comes from the rule change. Whereas before the rule change Surtain NEVER was beaten, after the rule change it happens sparingly. That' probably the extent of his deterioration.

We haven't really missed Knight too much IMO. He had a ball-hawk reputation when he got here, but he seemed to have more bad plays than good ones for us.

Yea, that explains why he has the most takeaways of anyone in the league since 1997.

So far Shulters has been outshining Knight's past performances. We sure miss Pat Surtain though. I loved that dude. Best Phins CB ever in my opinion.

Knight is a good player. Never had a season with less than 1 int, and with exception of one season, he's had at least 5 every year till he came to the 'Phins. He's got a knack for being around the ball... but at the same time, he gets caught out of place more than I'd like. Still, SS is usually know more as a hitter than a coverage guy... and in that mold Sammy is one of the best.

It's a downgrade from him to Tebucky... but no where near as much as it is a drop off between Travis Daniels and Pat.

Schulters is replacing Freeman though... and in that case, it's a major upgrade.

I agree, I think the Dolphins feel the Surtain departure way more than Knight...

Knight is slow... it took like half of the 'fastest 3 minutes' just to show his run-back!

Gimme Surtain back, you bastids!

He is still one of my favorite players and I hope him the best except tommorrow.

Knight didnt play very well for us glad he is playing well again for you guys...We miss Surtain a lot.. when the deal was happening I could not BELIEVE the amount of KC fans crying about wanting T law for Free instead of giving up a second for Pat...In retrostpect I would imagine most KC fans are happy now. Overall I would say the situation turned out win-win both sides should be happy.
