Knowing now would you...

I would not have traded Lamar Miller AND a second-round pick for Trent Richardson.

Ray Rice had 1143 yards on 4.4 ypc...almost 200 yards more than Richardson. Ray Rice had 478 receiving yards last year too, Trent only 367...last I check 478 > 367.

You're right I misquoted the receiving stats. My point is any running back who is the ONLY playmaking threat on an offense is going to have a bad ypc. You put Trent in Ray Rice's shoes and I guarantee he puts up 150 more yards. Plus he's a rookie dealing with injuries all year. Trent is going to be great in Indy and he is better than Lamar Miller right now.

I wouldn't touch Trent Richardson. As I stated in a previous thread, Richardson is the equivalent of a 3rd or 4th round runningback at this point. In his short career he only has 2 runs of 20+ yards and has a career of around 3.6 YPC. He'd be a solid number 2 back, but if you're going to rely on him as a number 1, you'll get burned.

Lets review this idiotic post after a year with Trent and Luck together.....3rd or 4th rd my a**.

Reason for Richardsons stats being so low is prob due to the fact that the browns O-line is a hot mess and has always been. Plus he's been injured. So most of his Pro career stats are moot at this point.

An even better "what if"

If I knew those number Tuesday afternoon, I'd be over $100million richer (before taxes and lump sum distribution)

You're right about the browns O-line. I think the main thing I would fear about Richardson is his injuries. He's flirting with the injury prone status.

First off, every damn player in the NFL is "playing with an injury." Let's get real on that one. On top of that, top runningbacks play well with a bad o line/8 men in the box all of the time. Hell, even CJ2K, he of many flaws, a horrible o line and constant 8 men box, puts up better numbers than Richardson. Adrian Peterson, Jamal Charles, MJD for a while, put up great numbers with absolutely no qb, and constant 8 men in the box. Great running backs, top running back, put up numbers no matter the circumstances.

On top of that, he's not injured now and still looks the same as last year.

You would lay down 1/2 the season also if you were subjected to that beating...Watch as he flourishes in Indy.

Also the Browns had a top 15 offensive line for run blocking and a top 10 offensive line for pass blocking last year...so not really a hot mess.

Lamar Miller is fine. Jim Brown could not have run through the holes or lack of holes against Cleveland, man don't go into panic mode we have played 2 games. Running game showed progress in second game....be patient Miller is a star waiting to happen.

If we knew Richardson was on the market would you have done: Lamar Miller and a 2nd to clev for Trent?????

No I wouldn't. I am not impressed at all by Richardson and I never was. Eddy Lacy was a much better back coming out of Bama than Trent in my opinion. Trent will be just fine in Indy and I'll take my chances with Miller for now and see how it shakes out, very little invested with as high reward potential as Richardson.

Best thing Trent has going for himself is the reputation he's earned in college. So far in the NFL he's really not impressed. I think the browns got a steal getting a 1st round pick for him. So to answer the OP no i don't make the trade. Hell I'm not sure I would even make the trade straight up.

No way I would have given up a first...... a second at best.

I feel 75 percent of our lack of a running game is the line/play calling. Our current running game problem is on the coaches at this point even if the Oline is struggling to open up holes.

They need to dial in on the right combination of running plays to jump start our running game.As much as our passing game is improving, our running game is stagnant. It needs a spark and a change in direction.

Even though we improved last week, the coaches need to mix it up more. Some sweeps, pitch outs dump offs Including some reverses. No better place than at home to get our running backs in the game including that our starting QB is slightly dinged on his throwing shoulder.
