First off this is not a woulda, coulda, shoulda negative thread, I'm just speaking in general. I'm sure you all remember kory sperry, he was a phin back in 09 and actually caught a TD pass from henne in the game against TB. Well anyway most of you know that he is on the chargers now and he played a little bit last year, well this year he is down in weight from 250lb to 238lb almost losing 15lbs, I was watching the chargers-seattle game and Ron Jaworski said that perry has lost weight and increased his speed and he is going to be a difficult matchup for any defense, he actually caught a couple passes in that game and seperated himself from some LB's, there were actually a couple plays where I thought he was Vincent Jackson because of the tats and same size 6"4 235, well anyway, maybe we could send merling to the chargers for this guy because they run a 3-4 and already have gates and mcmichael, it would be a perfect trade, sperry would help us out big time!

Most people look better when they have Philip Rivers throwing the ball instead of Chad Henne

running a good route and seperating yourself from a defender has nothing to do with the qb, thats all on the TE!

why did we let him go? he was much better than haynos

Have you noticed that some of our rejects are looking decent on some of the other teams. Kory Sperry may be just the latest. Hard to believe, but John Beck looked like a real QB the other night, Anthony Armstrong looked like a speedy WR. Erik Walden looked pretty good as a Green Bay Super Bowl LB and don't be surprised if Ronnie and Ricky still have some gas in the tank. Maybe the bigger problem isn't identifying who's got talent, maybe it's knowing who to keep and how to nurture the talent.

Yea I'm not gonna lie john beck did look good, I know I know it was just preseason but he looked very comfortable in the pocket and was making some good throws, he was moving around and being instinctive and slinging the ball, anthony armstrong could have been a deep-threat for us!

The only pick up I'd like to see is REAL competition for QB... otherwise all we're really talking about is apples and oranges with certain position players. Like Sperry.

John Beck gets bashed on here all the time and the guy never got a fair shake here. He played on the worst Dolphins squad in history with the least amount of talent on offense and was a rookie...don't know what anyone was expecting.

As for Sperry, don't think so. I wonder how well a 238 lbs TE is going to block linebackers. At that weight he's basically an oversized WR and I wouldn't be surprised if D-coordinators take advantage of that when he gets on the field. Just blitz from his side and see what happens.

ummm "datruth" your missing the point! I said seem threat Tight End not a blocking TE, we have a slow blocking TE in fasano we need a TE who can split the seems and get away from LB's and I'm sure he can hold of a blitz for a few seconds!

TEs still need to be able to block in certain situations. All of them have to.

Just like Phinatic8u said they all need to block. If you're going to line him up next to the tackle and have him run up field without a chip or block the linebacker is going to have a straight shot at the QB.
