i don't know if this has been mentioned on here, but ESPN seems to have finally gotten a full time guy to take over for James Walker covering the Dolphins. reason i mention it is the stark contrast to our coverage since Cameron Wolfe was taken over from him. Walker was always negative and never seemed to care at all about the Dolphins by doing things like making simple roster mistakes, spinning everything negatively, and talking about the Incognito/Martin situation whenever he could slide it in. Wolfe seems to have a better grasp on what is going on with the team and he is generally upbeat when discussing them. as much as i like to trash ESPN for their attempts to transition to a cross between CNN/TMZ over the last decade they really did right with this hire so i just wanted to commend them for it.

If he's too positive and the team starts to win, I wonder how long the Bristol team keeps him. They can't have anyone up seed their home town team.

Walker was so general and short I was shocked he actually got paid to provide what he did. It was about as shallow as possible.

Seriously a Walker take was something like this:

I think the Dolphins will lose to the Patriots Sunday, Dolphins fans what do you think?

Walker was just lazy and didn't bother to educate himself. Wolfe is already a big improvement. Forget being positive or negative. Walker hardly ever wrote anything that was both informative and accurate.

It was like he followed Omar and company and regurgitated what they said. Seriously I don't dislike Walker, he just sucked as a beat writer. I used to think how great his gig was every time I read his stuff. Write a blurb, and blurb may be exaggerating, about the fins on a daily basis and get paid.

Wolfe seems highly professional so far. Just that is a welcome change.

says brock, pooling will make team on the ESPN team projection. I'd be shocked if either made the team and this guy getting paid to follow the team has it very wrong

Walker was the worst media guy for all South Florida sports next to Ira Winderman. Just like Ira, he never has anything exclusive to report, and his overall knowledge of the sport he covers is trash.

Ira is a nice guy though.

IIRC, Walker was actually covering multiple teams and that's why he just phoned in copy+pasted stuff from Rotoworld.

Wolfe seems like a much higher quality reporter and actually very knowledgeable about the team he's covering.

But I heard him on AM 790 last night when I was in the car and he suggested that Miami look to upgrade the backup QB position by inquiring about... Josh Dobbs. Josh Dobbs! Has Wolfe ever actually watched this guy throw a football, or does he think he is good because Pittsburgh drafted him? Guy makes Uncle Rico look like Johnny Unitas.
