Kyle Eckel highlights

why was he signed as an undrafted free agent? why not drafted?

Teams seem to treat fullbacks as a dime a dozen now.. the difference in overall quality from person to person seems to be pretty small now. I remember them talking about that back when we picked up Barnes.

There's the hammer we've been missing. I hope he can play like that with the big boys.

Number 1 because he is a fullback and there is no premium on that position anymore. Number 2, teams knew he had a military commitment so that keeps a lot of service players undrafted.

I am a huge Navy football fan and watched this guy during his playing days an let me tell you he is awesome.I just hope he is still in condition after spending 2 years on a ship.

Funny you should say that. He actually only spent about 6 months on the ship. He got to the USS Kearsarge (not the Normandy as reported). He got there around Jan 2006. Then he left the boat around June or July heading the Transient Personnel unit in Norfolk, va for medical reasons. That was his way out. Medical. He is in great shape. His total time on active duty was staying prepared for the NFL. The guy reminds me of Zach Thomas. I know one play defense and the other offense...but im talking about work ethics an dthe fact that he has no neck. Another RB from Navy Eric Roberts speaks very very highly of Ensign Eckels. I just have one problem with the way he got out. He compromised his integrity a little bit. In the military you are called to perform a duty, in my humble opinion that duty is more important than professional football. He saw otherwise. Im not mad at him, but he wasn't worthy of the DD214 he recieved.

XXX, brudda, George Bush is a lyin-cheatin-idiot! He, his daddy, and their 'Council of 12' have stolen this country from us, right in front of our eyes! Now as far as Kyle Eckel is concerned; he had every right to pursue any means necessary to effect his cleanest possible removal from the Naval Armed Forces that were available to him. His hitch was served, and any further allotment would probably have concluded with his participation in that 'illegal intervention' in Iraq. (imo)

I caught a few of his games, and he's a beast. He punishes tacklers.

That's right people. Lets just mind our business and maybe the terrorists will go away. Walk away and give them what they want, That's the answer!!!!!
Maybe the USA should sell off every piece of military equipment we have and we'll be able to pay off all of our debt. We don't need any of that junk. We shouldn't be fighting anyway. I wonder what you would do if someone walked in your house and killed a family member and ran, would you just let it go, or would you go after them? Especially if you knew they were going to keep doing it because they HATE you from the depths of their soul.

they HATE us...because as a nation we misrepresent ourselves...my mini-rant is not against our nation's military, nor its foot soldiers...but the intervention into this Iraq, wasn't about WMDs...not about Saddam...not about Shiite's & Sunni's...it was and is, about M$N$Y!!!...we're a "nation within a nation" and THAT is why the world 'at large' doesn't like or respect America's americans; at least not like they used to after WWII...we gonna haveta fight hard to get our country back from these theivin b*st*rds...

What I noticed is how high he runs....yet he still has so much power, if he ran with a lower pad level he could be amazing
