I got to wondering what the Bronco fans think about Kyle Orton so I went and had a look. It's about the same as it is here with Henne. Some want to stick with him, but the majority are ready to run him out of town. By no means are these guys experts but they watch their team just like we do week in and week out so they may very well know a thing or too. Below are a few things they have to say about Orton.

With Orton as Starter: 20.69 pts./game - 22nd out of 32 NFL teams (and these stats are actually a bit inflated because of the several touchdowns Tebow scored in those games with goal-line QB plays)

With Tebow as Starter: 25 pts./game - 7th out of 32 NFL teams

So, with Orton starting, there were 21 other NFL teams who scored more points/game.

Out of the 13 games Orton started, he never had 2 games in a row all last season where the Broncos scored 18 points or more, yet the Broncos scored 23 points or more in each of Tebow's 3 starts, with a conservative playbook.

None give us the best chance to win. The margin of W/L's that we would have between the 3 of them would be minimal. All are highly capable of leading us to sub-500 seasons. But of the 3 a 7-9 season for Tebow would give us a direction to go with the kid. A 7-9 for KO or Quinn would be status quo.

Orton has an 11-17 record in Denver. I imagine that will go to 16 and 28 this year.

In Orton's best season in six years, Tim Tebow bested him statistically (and intangibly) in his three-game sample as a rookie quarterback who was forced to play against two division rivals.

Why does Tebow need the full off-season of camps for a shot to compete when he performed higher, again, from the quarterback position? How asinine is it to back Orton as the "better traditional quarterback" when the "unconventional quarterback" scores more points?

I didn't ask whether or not there should be a competition in TC, just why Orton is the better option than Tebow to win games, since he hasn't shown that in any demonstrable, measurable way in Denver?

By the way, of all the QB's (3 of whom were veterans) who started in the majority of their teams games last year, the only ones who had a W/L record close to Orton's were Ryan Fitzpatrick, Carson Palmer, Jimmy Claussen and Derek Anderson. And we wonder why there weren't any NFL teams just beating down Denver's door this week to get Kyle Orton in a trade. Funny thing is that Chad Henne, Miami's QB, had a considerably better W/L record last year than Orton did!

Orton in my opinion would/will be a suitable QB if he's on a team that in surrounded by talent on both sides of the ball. Orton is not a QB to rebuild a team around.

Orton is a high maintenace QB.

Ok here is the breakdown.

Lockout hurts Tebow's development.
Front office still tried to trade Orton.
Orton decides not to renegotiate because of Miami not matching the guaranteed money of his one year contract in a longer term deal where Orton was willing to take a pay cut.
Front office gets screwed.
Tebow gets screwed in development.
Front office is still trying to trade Orton.
Orton probably will get benched after 4 games if it starts out like last season.
I think Tebow will probably be starting by the 6th game.

No Orton supporter seems to care that only ONE team in the entire NFL was willing to even look at acquiring him. Then when Orton wanted to be paid real money like other QB's that were traded, the ONLY team that was interested decided he wasn't worth it.

One team, was willing to trade for him. One. And they decided he wasn't worth investing much in.

That, speaks louder than words ever will about how Orton is perceived by the entire rest of the NFL.

I am by no means trying to bash the guy. There are some Denver fans that like him but there are not many that seem to want to keep him either. The purpose of this post is to show all of those who think he will be a major upgrade from what we have most likely will not be the case.

This is all from this one thread

Correct. He's an average QB who thinks he's worth more than he actually is. I'd rather go into the season with Henne. He has a higher ceiling if he succeeds while Orton has basically hit his ceiling: average.

Pretty much took the words right out of my mouth.

havent heard anything about him that shows that he feels he is worth so much but i think fans need to get real if they think he should play for Kevin burnett or Reggie bush money.

at this point you gotta think the only QB Jeff thinks is worth kolb money and compensation, just retired and is currently unavailable. orton while further along than henne... jeff and tony feel that a new oc, and weapons = more winning even with henne. and adding more pieces to the defense shows that they plan to win on D for the rough times (assume ... many) the O isn't able to score of move the ball.

Yea Sparano and Ireland have felt alot of ways the past two seasons and none of its suceeded on offense.

I've heard he wants this kind of money especially with Kolb getting a huge deal.

Henne has been good with a running game. We were excited about Henne's future in 2009 when we had a top 3 running game. The defense blew those games. I believe if they create a solid run game for Henne, he should be solid. The offense was a complete disaster under Henning. Nobody really liked him in the locker room. I think Chad deserves one more chance.

Well we have not seen a number 7 mill or so for three years would be reasonable considering we dont have any other big money spent at qb or rb.
we could grrom next years pick and still develop Henne and Devlin.

If I remember reading right, he is due 9 million this year and that is what he wants but he was willing to split that up in a two year deal and Miami is unwilling to go that high.

2009 you gotta think the wheels came off when henne was asked to take over for a penny-made offense, and a swiss cheese defense, also 2009 was year two, did you think they'd build upon or even get nearly as many wins as 2008? or are you cherry picking?

2010 yes was certainly a failure, which even the most subjective fan would place at least 50/50 blame on henning/henne. a much improved defense, combined with a few more pieces and the maturation of our young secondary the D should only get better, and on O, I'm not sure if we've gained or lost by not having ricky and ronnie coming back. Ricky was clearly the better back of the two last year, but runningbacks can fall off in just one offseason and ronnie, hasn't lived up to his billing. we've certainly added speed, and a new OC, our O certainly couldn't be any worse than last years predictable offense.

Oh I guess you're just tossing out the one-liner instead of actually putting any thought into a response.

This. The guy is a freaking QB for crying out loud. Since when did they come cheap in the first place??

A franchise QB deserves that kind of money sure, but Orton is just an average QB. Look what the fans are saying about him. He doesn't sound like he's worth 9 million to me. I wonder how many Dolphin fans would actually overspend on Orton. He's a short term upgrade to save their jobs but if Henne succeeds we know we're we can go with the future.

hey I wanted orton too. but we've invested a lot in the position the last decade, and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to sink or swim with henne for one more year. he gets better, good, he does worse, he gets benched and we find out if we have anyone on the roster who can get the job done. if we add orton do we win a superbowl? because that is the best reason to add him, and if the answer is no, then you don't go all in on Orton.
