Anything that JLC says is usually bull****.
I wish we could trade Jordan a guy we should have never traded up for but I don't see it happening esp with cap ramifications plus how much actual value does he really have
Just another La Canfora pile thrown against a wall on a Friday around lunch. Gets headlines and him some name recognition because it's scandalous and everyone forgets it was totally made up and without basis by Monday. The Magic 8 Ball is a lot more accurate than LCF is at this point ... and that's truly sad.According to him we are coached by Fisher and QB'd by Peyton Manning and all kinds of other stuff. Oh yeah, at the same time he said this about Jordan he also said we were shopping Wake and Wallace. And yes, it has been specifically disproved in each case ... but hey, LCF just keeps making stuff up so I guess its working for him.
Lots of people here defending mediocre Jordan
and Salary Cap and Financial Considerations in Trading Dion JordanJust some offseason speculation.
The Miami Dolphins are in the process of interviewing candidates for their open General Manager position. A vacancy arose when former GM Jeff Ireland was fired mutually agreed to split ways with the Dolphins organization early in January. One of the candidates the Dolphins interviewed recently was Eagles Vice President of Player Personnel Tom Gamble. It turns out that Gamble is staying in Philadelphia for at least one more year, which is good news for Eagles fans. Gamble's involvement in the Dolphins search did lead to some interesting information and speculation, however. Courtesy of Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero:
I'm told 1 thing Tom Gamble would've recommended if he interviewed for Dolphins GM was switch back to 3-4. Thinks Dion Jordan 3-4 stud.

To piggyback on previous Dion Jordan/Gamble tweet, Eagles have No. 22 in 1st rd. Wouldn't surprise me if they try to trade that for Jordan.

Jordan played for Chip Kelly and Gamble loves him. Jordan in Miami was Jeff Ireland's pick not new GM's.

A few days ago Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald wondered if the Miami Dolphins might try to trade DE/OLB Dion Jordan. Former GM Jeff Ireland traded moved up nine spots to make the selection by trading the 12th and 42nd overall choices for Jordan. Now that Ireland is gone there could be a chance that his pick goes with him. So let’s look at the salary cap consequences and financial considerations for both sides.
and now former Eagles Director of Pro Personnel and ESPN analyst is saying this was a real possibility weeks ago.The Dolphins, if seriously considering this option, would need to make the trade sometime before the 5th day of training camp. If Jordan is on the roster as of that day the team would have to pay him $845,104. Most likely he would be traded prior to this years draft, but here are the three trade scenarios and cap charges, and savings involved:

I'm no expert but, I think a trade may be able to be done without a $10M cap hit. The above article says that the signing bonus is not actually paid on signing and pro-rated. So, maybe the contract can be re-done or, maybe the trading team can agree to take over the bonus. Not sure, have to do sme more research.
Actually when you consider the numbers and the situation I think Wake is the most likely to get traded.
All the same -- even if LaCanfora's reporting is accurate (never a guarantee) -- I don't think any of this has gotten much beyond talk. At this time of year all kinds of wild deals are floated and nearly come to fruition but ultimately don't.
It still wouldn't make any sense at all to me. Cap dollar vs production Wake is one of the best players in the league. How could we possibly justify moving him? We wouldn't free up any cap space, we wouldn't get equivalent talent in return. It's lose-lose for us.
Of course it's a matter of price. A top 15 pick would work for Wake, but no team is going to pay that much for a veteran when the name of the game is cheap draft picks. I mean, last time that happened in the NFL I think Al Davis pulled the trigger on Seymour.
