La Canfora: If Bowles leaves, Kevin Coyle a candidate for DC

I sure hope he isn't "pressured" to use Bowles as DC. I was never pleased with the performance of our secondary under his watch and sure as hell don't want him running the entire Defense!

Bowles sucks.. Not only did he NOT deserve a HC spot, he also does NOT deserve a coordinator spot.. I hope he isnt retained as our Db coach. We need an upgrade at DB coach so bad! It was easy for us as IMHO the only reason he was even interviewed was to fullfill the Rooney Rule.

Not sure if it's true
10. Philbin will not be going to the Senior Bowl. Former coach Tony Sparano used to scout the practices alongside Jeff Ireland, but Philbin will use the next few days to check out South Florida and move his family down to the area. He has five children, three of whom still live at home.

Shoot, that sucks. I hope he'll at least watch the practices on NFL Network.

Two beat writers who cover the Cincinnati Bengals have told me that when the Eagles asked last year to interview Kevin Coyle they were denied and they expect when the Dolphins come calling to interview Coyle they will be denied as well.

Man you're on top of everything. Props

I went to Cincy's website but their bio on him isn't very good, mostly just highlights of his coaching career. Was DC at U of Maryland and Fresno State but has been the DB coach in Cincy since 2000. That seems like a long time, wonder why he hasn't tried to move up or out after so long.

were they on a staff together somewhere?

phil came from the nfc and coyle is in the afc . they play each other every 3rd leap year.

the article said he is impressed with coyles skills, its a strong statement. so i am just wondering how he was exposed to talents of coyle.

This a guess because I can't find anything regarding his philosophy on 3-4/4-3
He has worked under Zimmer in cincy & Andy Reid wanted to interview him last year, Mike brown would not give permission, both Zimmer & Reid are associated with the 4-3, so that would be my guess.

laconman might be right about the possiblity of him being a consideration, but he is never right about who actually ends up being the guy.

but then again....who does? not even ck or simon clancy gets it right.
