La Canfora: No bombshells found in investigation, could be trouble for Martin

If Martin simply did not want to play football anymore did he have to take this path? I know it is about money and what not, but fake an injury or something. Do not destroy the lives of people within the org.
Hell, why not just show the coaches you aren't really trying anymore and finish the season on the bench? You'd at least get this season's paydays, retire, be free and clear.

Selfish act on Martin's part.

Trade Martin to INdy they love giving away early picks, and Martin and Luck like one another

"Martin is a snake"

No! My politically correct vagina has been offended, somebody must pay. No i dont care that Lil Weirdo has been proved to be a liar. My agenda demands satisfaction.

Nothing says it better than this concerning Mrs. Joni Martin.

La Canfora - too.... Adam Schefter - too...

It was like they were competing for who could slandfer the Phins best

Stephen A. Smith, Skip Baseless, Carrie Champion, Michelle TaFoya and ESPN as a whole. I won't start on CNN or PMSNBC, as they used it as a political issue ad to push their left leaning agenda.

Never be fooled by an industry that profits from scandal. For the media, $$ come first, then the truth. There are no exceptions to the rule.

shizzle like this hypocrisy just galls me to the point of temporary insanity - imagine, Ray Lewis, who only escaped a murder indictment by becoming a snitch and accepting a misdeamnor charge and 1 year parole, having the audacity to proselytize on anyone else's foibles or failings.

A gender-conflicted, mommy's boy who feels more at home designing floral arrangements than in the football trenches, trying to manipulate the system so that he could look like a hero while going AWOL and being paid for doing nothing - color me not at all surprised!

The media loves sensationalism because it leads to profit. News organization are geared toward profit. They are not there to inform you they are there to entertain you. When the martin case was about bullying and racism it mattered, so Espn and others pumped it for all it was worth. They needed to latch on to something since media poster boy tim tebow was finally cut from the league. This case has become boring now because there are no smoking guns, or deeper parts to the story. Now the media has to find a new explotation. Right now it seems like it'll be Mike Tomlin tripping Jacoby Jones, but let's see what happenes this weekend.

The public consumes what's fed to them, that's why the media has the foremost responsibility to decipher and interpret events, and relay it to us. It's not as if this is done on a volunteer basis, these people are paid to get the facts right.
You've been watching too many movies, my friend. They are paid to make their publishers money. End of story. It's harsh and it's cynical, but it is how things really are. As has been stated before in this thread, it's up to the public to use their God-given common sense to sort out what the real truth might be. To every thing and every one who's a part of revealing the actual truth, it's entertainment until it reaches court. Until a scandal like this actually makes it to a court somewhere, they will ride it for every $ it's worth.

Do you remember the Tiger Woods scandal? How much of that turned out to be true and how much was speculation, or out and out lies to fan the flames of the story? Especially, in the first few weeks after the story broke.

I believe Martin just wanted to quit, his mommy was the one who wanted revenge.

Nice work on that. I think it would be better with a different snake though. That snake is a fierce predator. A better reflection for Martin would be a little garter snake slithering through the mud.

Meh pretty much knew that this is how things would turn. ESPN went all in, but you'd think they'd have learned their lesson from the Kobe rape case and the Duke LAX case. I do think that once it became more and more evident that there was no real story ESPN just dropped the whole thing. I know for a fact that a few ESPN personalities didn't know how to react when not only Miami players but other NFL players didn't really do much but shrug about the entire situation.

While I also really got my information from NFLN, Fox Sports, and CBS radio and after the initial shock, nobody really cared. Told me that nothing was going to come of the situation.

At the end of the day Martin not going public with statements hurt him in the long run IMO. Incog doing a national interview and handing over all the texts put Martin in a corner. Then it was announced Martin was seeking medical treatment but they refused to say for what. Then he showed up smiling and laughing at the Stanford/USC game. The fact that none of his teammates really supported him hurts as well
