I don't recall where I read it but I have been looking for it without any luck. Perhaps I am thinking that it was last year there was something that stood out in my mind about his contract.

Not sure how many years left but he is under contract. HENCE, other teams have to ask permission from Miami to talk with him. Which is why the Fins told the Rams "NO" they couldn't speak with him a few weeks back.
If he didn't have a contract he would be free to talk with anyone he wanted. I think he has 1 year left on his deal but it may be 2.

So in other words, nobody knows...
If Bowles is willing to stay as DC, then keep him. If he is asking to be left go or could become a distraction just let him go. There are some decent DC candidates out there is the Bowles thing doesn't work out.

I know he is under contract and can't leave unless offered a head coaching job. That part is 100% fact. If Miami wants to keep him he has to stay. There is no debating that

NO, Philbin is open to the idea of keeping Bowles. McCoy said he didn't want Bowles.
Or so it was tweeted by a few twats on twitter at the time.

MADDOG88: who says ROSS likes bowles? all reports are noting that IRELAND likes bowles as he and parcells brought him over from dallas. ross isnt conected to him at all.
the reports all said that ross favored philbin and ireland favored mccoy. we saw how that turned out. maybe ross is getting a handle on the boy wonder and making sure the RIGHT choices are in place to set of ross [no parcells] era. he probably sees that bowles did NOTHING for our secondary, it was at the bottom portion of the leauge for EVERY year he has been here. same with the other two nfl teams whos secondary he coached and isnt making a decision over greindship, but bottom line, production! whicj bowles has failed at.
so i have to ask MADDDOG, what exactly is it you love so much about bowles? why in the world are you jacked about a guy whos unit was the WORST on our defense and was just as bad on the other teams he coached for? and its not like he is a houshold nfl name, he doesnt give espn or nfl network interviews. the finz and cowbys both had gag orders and staff couldnt talk to media, so its not like you could fall in love with his personality.
and as far as i know, your not related to him or hang out with him.
so where does all the adulation come from?
i have asked this of a few bowles groupies here with no replies.
got and answer? its not to flame you, i am just curious as to why anyone wants a a guy to coordinate our defense when he has failed as an assistant on 3 nfl teams? why is that?
