Paul/Germany
Active Roster
Good evening,
Last week I wrote a post where I pointed out that we should look at the positive things. That's why I decided to write such a post after every game if possible. I would like to emphasize the things that stand out positively. I do this for 2 reasons.
1. Because I think it's important to think positively.
2. As I stated here when I registered, I come from Germany. It's not always easy to watch good football here. Therefore, your feedback on my observations is very important to me. Because only in this way is it possible for me to know more and thus to build up expertise due to the lack of opportunities to watch the game.
I will always split the game into two halves. So that I can write down the notes from the first half during the break.
1st half
What I noticed today but also in the last few weeks is the fact that our Def. Is wide awake from the first snap. It wasn't always like that, but at the moment it's really incredibly strong. And it is precisely with this attitude that you have worked out that you make tight decisions for yourself.
This also includes the special team department, which is where they worked on a block like today. by continually improving in the last few weeks. The tension, explosiveness but also the discipline keeps it at a high level.
From my point of view, it was also noticeable that injuries or failures like Wilkins or Van Noy are always absorbed by the entire team. This is how we manage to stop moves that we gave up in a row last year.
On the offensive, you have to note that the special team is also selling very well here and runs many yards after punt / kicks. It starts with good blocks and ends with Grant's speed. But even here there are more things that make us look good. In this way, Tua manages to keep calm even in pressure situations and to get rid of the ball quickly but mostly safely.
The whole guild of our WR seems to me more and more coordinated in the last games. And Tua can choose when he starts. Today I especially notice Melcom Perry. Quickly agile but unpredictable for the opponent due to his experience as a QB.
The O-Line also looks stronger from the outside. You have the correct answers to the actions of the opponents in most moments.
All in all, such a first half is worth watching.
2nd half
Def just in the 3 Quarter you could see that the guys tried again and again to force play. This was successful in some situations and you didn't let yourself be dragged down by mistakes that happened. But then right at the beginning of the fourth quarter you showed what you can achieve and then got a somewhat shaky game back into our hands.
Off
Meanwhile, I like our RB Ahmed very much. lots of fast runs with good cuts. He shows very good approaches this and last week.
With Tua you can see even more that he tries to distribute the balls and to distribute the burden of catching on everyone, making it harder for the opponent. In the end, we moved the clock by means of a clever time manegment and no more pressure was applied.
Conclusion: In terms of coaching, we are on the right track. The coaches seem to see their weak points in their playcalling off like def week after week and to work on them. This is a very important point because nobody is allowed to get out of the process of development. This is the only way to achieve your goals.
Kicker / Punter At the moment there is actually no need to comment on Sanders. He plays so strong and constant (yes, even today). But with Matt Haack, I think it is necessary to positively mention this. He constantly manages to get us into field positions with good punt's that make it possible for us to continue our game.
We saw a decent game of ups and downs. That's part of it. But today you could see that we have to work hard every second. I'm looking forward to the next week.
It should be noted that this is deliberately written positively. Since we are still in the process of rebuilding, it makes no sense to highlight the negative things.
To maybe see why I worry about it. I have found my sport in football and I want to develop myself personally. I actually come from wrestling which I have also helped shape national level over the years. Internationally, it didn't get there. But since my father was an Olympic participant, my understanding of sport is very high. And when I look at something I want to understand it as well as possible and I like to invest time.
As always, my English takes time (I'm working on that too)
