Key reason Lake Dawson, and presumably others, turned down Miami - Philbin controls the 53-man roster in 2014. Looks like a band-aid job
 
So Hickey is a glorified scout? I don't see a light at the end of this tunnel.

I feel like we will be pining for the days of Ireland/Sparano in a short time...

I don't even see how any qualified person would want to work for Ross, regardless of structure, after witnessing this train wreck. There isn't enough money in the world to convince a talented guy to work for this schlub.

Our only hope is that he hires Marino to be the face and voice of the franchise and retreats into the shadows never to be seen or heard from again.
 
What a joke Ross must be!!! Ross must think Philbin will be able to find talent.
 
If the coach is going to be judged by how they play, shouldn't he have say?

I see your point, but it kept Miami from hiring a potentially better GM candidate for 2014. Lets hope Philbin unearths some gems when he makes his picks in May's NFL Draft. I'm not confident he will find anything.
 
Let's hold off on this report LaConfora has been WRONG many times throughout this process. I think it would be odd for Ross to issue statement early on about position then it not be correct. Who knows
 
Good thing. No more excuses if the team fails. However, I do believe we will field a quality team if Philbin is in charge.

I'm glad Philbin has control of the roster. He is a planner, an organizer and a guy that needs to have control of how he wants to run his team. I wouldn't even want a coach that didn't have control of the roster. What a joke that would be.

I think most of you are blowing this **** way out of proportion.

We were an 8-8 team last year. We had a good team that was bottlenecked by a terrible OLine. A few good players and were in the playoffs. Overreaction and FH go hand in hand though so, par for the course...
 
So, would this mean he decides who to keep of our FA's, how much to pay them, and the same on the open market FA'S?
