I know it's only pre-season but the lack of a running game is very troubling. The offensive line looked clueless on running plays! If you can't run in this leaque...you can't win. Thoughts?

It seems like we can never run the ball in the preseason and the first couple weeks of the regular season

Yea I agree, that was one of the major things I noticed in the first half. Donald Thomas looked pretty pedestrian out there. Hope he starts to pick his game up in the next few games.

Reggie showed some flashes. The play calls were pedestrian, so i wouldn't look to much into it.

we are not lining up in running formations. looks pretty vanilla to me. dont think we would waste a pick on a rb if we didnt plan on running the ball.

We have to remember, we are changing to a zone blocking scheme and breaking in a whole new right side of the line.....i would expect it's going to take a little time to gel.

One thing i would like to see is running more to the left. Most teams like running right, it's usually their power side (i know i did too as a RB, i liked cutting off my left foot and going outside, liked carrying the ball in my right arm)....but Jake Long and Richie on the left are better run blockers than Hicks/Martin on the right. So while it's not typical, i think we need to force the issue that way. I can't see any defensive ends enjoying a full game of Big Jake beating on them.

You got the key point new offensive line. Every year we keep changing the line and the linemen never time to gel as a unit until week 4-5 of the reg season.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that we are converting to zone blocking this year, which will take some time to get down right. Also, we are starting a rookie at RT and we are running a vanilla passing game. If our passing game gets even MORE effective than we saw last night (and I think that's a real possibility), the defenses will have to back off in defending the run too closely or get burned by the passing game. I suggest we reserve judgement on the running game until at least PS game 3.

Long, Incognito and Pouncey haven't moved.

Reggie Bush looked good with the first team, definitely still a playmaker, hell we lined up in the I-formation every time we ran the ball, and the Bucs knew that and Bush still had some good plays.

Lamar Miller really didn't do too much but what can you expect with 3rd team offensive linemen? Daniel Thomas was one of my favorite players coming out of the draft wen he was at Kansas State, it's really hard to see him struggling like this.

Not a huge worry yet. New zone blocking scheme could be a reason for the ineffectiveness. If we still are not running by the 3rd preseason game then we can start to worry.

I guess you guys don't see it. Haha, this is not going to be a running offense at all, they don't care about the run so of course we saw none of it in the game. We will not have a 1000 yard rusher this season. This offense is all about pass, pass, and more passing. Our running backs will be running screens. I say we run the ball 20 times a game, if that.

15 total rushes in the first preseason game. Let's acknowledge that first and then realize nothing can possibly be troubling at this point in the season.

Rinse and repeat.

You guys do realize this is the first preseason game right? You do realize there is no game plans and you're seeing about 15% if that of our offense. I still can't for the life of me figure out why people make so many assumptions offa preseason game and the first one at that. I guess the patriots, jets, and bills are all doomed too considering their first game. This is irrelevant but I'm pretty sure the colts won the super bowl the same year they went 0-4 in the preseason. Everyone please calm down and dont take preseason seriously. It counts for absolutely nothing. Idk about anyone else but I'm not making assumptions or giving an opinion on who sucks until the clock hits 00:00 in the 4th of the Houston game.
