Candace Parker is a redshirt freshman for Tennessee who can play every position and distribute the ball as easily as she scores. Oh yeah, she dunks, too.

The 6-foot-4 Parker became the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game Sunday, jamming one-handed on a breakaway just 6:12 into the second-seeded Lady Vols’ 102-54 victory against an Army team that was making its NCAA tournament debut.

Then, for good measure, Parker ensured her place in basketball lore by becoming the first to do it twice in a college game with another one-hander on the baseline.

Are they *STILL* playing women's basketball? Why hasn't Congress stepped in and killed Title IX yet? :lol:
 
I have seen her so-called "dunks" and they are pretty weak....you would think more women in college would be able to dunk....they have guys in junior high throwing it down.
 
Man you guys are harsh. I don't like watching women's basketball (it's too slow with a lot of missed shots) but I'm glad it's there. Yeah the dunk looked kind of "weak" but heck it's great that she did it. It seems people forget that men and women are built differently...there's a reason a 5'0" guy can dunk at a playground but a woman can't. If more women could easily dunk, then they'd be doing it.

the dunks weren't great, but they were dunks nonetheless. did you expect her to hang on the rim and slap the backboard? the biggest knock on women's basketball is (i guess) that they can't dunk, and one finally does (twice at that), and the dunk is criticized?

Actually, I don't care that much that they can't dunk. And I'm not criticizing her dunking prowess, such as it is. The product itself is terrible; the games are at a much slower pace, and the athleticism is lacking (which, incidentally, does not translate to "they can't dunk"; dunking is merely a by-product of athleticism, there's a lot more to it). The one thing women's ball has going for it is emotion, and even that's only present at the college level. The WNBA has no redeeming qualities. None.
 
I don't watch women's golf either. Zzzzzzzzzz.
