Lamar Gordon and his Struggles

N

Just the fact Finheaven posted a poll if Gordon will make the team or not, tells it all. It's pretty much split down the middle right now 51pct say he wont make the team and 49 say he will.

Quite a few of us were excited when we got him from the Rams. I seen him play there and he did a nice job. He hasn't been able to do anything here at all, he has been terrible.

I know its only the 2nd preseason game, but he cant get anything going at all. Maybe if we can, we should trade him now, for anything. Even a 5th round pick, if we can get it. He hesitates before he makes his first move and has terrible vision. Id rather see Kay Jay make the team. Lets face it, we can't keep all of these backs and we might actually get someone for Gordon. The Jags might part with a 5th round pick. I say if we can pull that off? Pull the trigger before this guy stinks it up even more in some preseason games.

I was way off when it comes to Gordon. With Ronnie rumored to sign today and even Travis Minor kicking his but and he isnt close to Sammy Morris, lets see if we can get anything for him at all.

The only problem is, other team most likely know whats going on with him and he hasn't impressed anyone at all. The question asks " Will he make the team" I hope we at least try and trade this guy before we cut him. Maybe even to the Bills because I heard Mcgahee had a limp and they need a backup. Love to get at least a 5th rounder for him.

Thoughts?

I think a team with a turf field, would be the best fit. He did pretty good with the rams, on turf. Anyone now any turf teams looking for a back?

You can count me in as one who also thought he would do very well here, despite last year's injury, but he has not shown much, at least in games...I understand thru the various postings here, that he was doing well in camp but that certainly hasn't shown thru into the games. He still has another week before any major cuts happen but if we could get something for him, replace the 5th rounder we took Wright with, or whatever would be fine with me given our strength at RB even if RW is to miss the first 4 games...

Gordon might turn out to be okay, if he would hit the hole and quit dancing.

This is his Major problem. He has shown good hands, but Id like to get something for him while we can.

Sammy Morris has higher trade value.

I agree, but I for one don't want to trade Sammy. He is an all around good player who can backup a FB or a RB. Since he can play both position and he can play special teams, there is no way we get rid of him. He avgd like 3.8 YPC on last years squad, he never really gets a chance where he plays. He would be the IDEAL back for the Eagles, no doubt. I bet he would start over Westbrook too because he actually has good size also. I don't want to trade him though.

If the concern is whether we are going to cut a player because of a lack of ability (as opposed to a salary cut).....then why would a team want to trade ANYHTING for him???

This isn't Madden!! You can't just force your garbage on to other teams. Teams only trade when they get something of need/value in return...not just to pick up another teams scraps.

I think Gordon will be gone, even more now that Brown will sign today. I also think Harris will make it because he plays special teams.

i dont understand why hes still dancing in the backfield... i would think the coaches should be hammering it into him to stop dancing and just run downhill...

I never liked the Gordon trade.Hesitates at the line of scrimmage, runs upright and he has the lower leg strength problems which have plagued him his whole career.

However once he gets past the line of scrimmage he has a slashing style which can be very effective.

The OL hasnt helped him very much either.I would like to see more of him before I call him a bust.

BTW trades happen when the player concerned is doing well.

Nobody is going to give anything in a trade for Gordon.

Teams were not willing to trade for Shaun Alexander or Edgerrin James, they are not going to trade for Gordon.

Those RBs werent signed because they wanted to much $$, not cause they are trash backs. Gordon can be had for minimum, teams would be more willing to jump on that.
