Lamar Miller says Dolphins interim coach Dan Campbell is placing a renewed emphasis on the running game.

Miami ranks dead last in rushing attempts per game. "(Campbell) pretty much told the whole team that we have to run the ball and stop the run," Miller said. "That’s something that we emphasized, and something we want to get going." The Dolphins have zero rushing touchdowns through four games. Averaging just 3.5 yards per carry after posting a 5.1 clip last season, Miller promises to be "more decisive running the ball" coming out of Miami's bye week.

Why did Philbin dislike running the ball? Boggles my mind. Even when opponents couldn't stop it, he'd call pass plays.

I think you will definitely see a more balanced offense. Campbell will run the ball all day

Don't think he was calling the plays.

I don't know how much Philbin meddled, but we do know that he meddled with Mike Sherman and specifically instructed him to stop running the ball.

We'll see what happens. I'm not a fan of a 'three yards and a cloud of dust' offense at all, but the fact is that when you get completely pass whacky and you are struggling to protect your QB (or rather, outright failing to do so), you're just cruising for a bruising. They need to find a balance, and the best place to start is by taking the goddamn bubble screens out of the playbook and replacing them with Jonas Gray trucking some idiot.

The lack of a run game is horrible. Your starting running back averaging less than ten carries a game is embarassing. My main gripe with this team, even more so than the defense. It puts your O in a position to fail.

bout damn time!!! release The Kraken!

They can run all they want but if the Oline doesn't create holes for the RBs it'll be irrelevant. Not to mention the Defense can't stop opposing offenses. We fall behind by so much that the run becomes ineffective.

Now if he can just teach lamar the cutback.

(nice try, not gonna bite :3w:)

Everyone is all excited we may run the ball more. So what if we run 30 times for 60 yards? I don't agree with just running to run, you need first downs.
3rd and 6 after two runs is still 3rd and 6. If we cant run the ball for any yards, who cares if we have more attempts

the defense we're playing against cares. that's really the only point. once you give up on the run, or are too far behind to justify running the ball....it sets up an easy situation for the opposing defense and with our deficiencies in pass blocking we can't afford to be so one-dimensional. leading the league in pass % is not going to lead to offensive success for this team. lamar miller is capable of big runs, we saw that last season...i think getting him the ball 15 times on the ground and another 5 through the air should be a goal week in week out.

It would still be effective for the overall offense. If you run it 30 times the D can't help but put more defenders in the box, freeing up some passing lanes. That's the point.
Keeps the D at least guessing a little bit. Right now they don't even have to wonder.....we're in a passing formation almost every play.
