Lamar Miller sucks

Well he's certainly had more than 2 good runs and I wouldn't call them his greatest. Greatest in terms of the length they went for only, but I don't necessarily label all long runs as someones "greatest"......but let's stay on point about fumbles. 2 fumbles in 17 games, and if he doesn't lose another all season that would be 1 per season. The point is you are really blowing this out of proportion to try to hate on the guy. He's always +4 yds per carry.....He doesn't break tackles like Earl Campbell and he may not be the best back in the league but that doesn't make him "suck".

Forgot to add in that he caught 26 of 30 passes BUT, did have 1 drop.

I don't know whether Miller sucks right now or not, but I can see both sides of this.

For the last couple of years, if we are being honest, Miller (and Thomas for that matter ) really haven't done much. By that I mean they really haven't been a difference maker for us. They have been more like a tease. At first glance, I thought our running game sucked because of the OL. However, after watching Moreno come in and run behind the same OL Miller did in this preseason, I've changed my mind. Miller and Thomas just don't seem to have the vision that Moreno does.

That being said, during the pats game, Miller did look different after Moreno came in. I am not sure if it was the defense sucking wind or what, but Miller seemed to hit the holes a little better and also run with more authority. Now that is a Miller I can live with. Maybe it was a learning thing, where Moreno kind of showed him what to do (after all he had Thomas mentoring him before), I don't know, but whatever it was, he came on stronger as the game went on.

Hopefully this is something he can build on because we need guys who are going to be difference makers in the game. A 5.4 average may look good on paper, but if the guy isn't lowering his shoulder and fighting for that extra yard to get a 1st down, then who needs him? Miller showed he was willing to do that as the game went on. Lazor has made his expectations known. When he is in the game, now it's time for Miller to deliver. It's Miller time.

I think that was a 14 yard run he fumbled on against the Pats. So lets examine.

2012
Oakland

15-yard TD run. (no fumble)
19-yard run in 4th quarter (no fumble)
Jets
22-yard run (no fumble)
Bills
28-yard run (no fumble)

2013
Indy
14-yard run (no fumble)
Atlanta
49-yard run (no fumble)
Saints (the game Sherman inexplicably stopped running the football)
20-yard run (no fumble)
Buffalo
30-yard run (no fumble)
Patriots
18-yard run (no fumble)
Bengals
41-yard run (fumble)
Jets
17-yard run (no fumble)
Jets - 2nd game
16-yard run (no fumble)

2014
13-yard run (fumble)

So that's every run for Miller over 14 yards except that last one. I'll also add that the game this past week was the first game where Miller had no negative yardage runs. So 12 runs of over 14 yards and one of 13 yards and he has 2 fumbles...in 2+ years. I'd say the OP went a little overboard. Am I saying Miller is great...no. He's a good back, not a starter IMO, but very good change of pace guy and if there's a hole it's like he's shot out of a cannon. He at least started running harder after Moreno came in...hopefully he keeps that up.

Thanks for the research on that. You made the point even better. It makes it very hard to even consider someones side of a conversation when they are not being realistic and exaggerating out of blind hate. "2 best runs of his career".....hilarious!

I saw Lamar Miller convert a few first downs by running hard. He also ran 6 times off Right Guard for 41 yards. He wasnt running off right end where he would use his speed...he was following his blocks and hitting the hole hard. Lamar Miller does not suck.

Does anyone have a video of the shoe incident? I thought it was kind of amazing how the shoe came down after the ball was recovered. Right in front of the camera, like it was planned or something.

The Cincy run was easily the best run of his career - he zigged and zagged all over the place looking like a Bush run - then fumbled being careless as his eyes lit up like saucers as he saw the goaline looming.

I don't have blind hate for the guy - I just think he blows. And...he can't block.

That cleared it up. So now only one of them was his best run ever. I do agree with that being probably his best run and that the fumble was stupid, however the criteria you are using to "prove" that he sucks is unfounded. Just bc he isn't Adrian Peterson doesn't mean he sucks.

Fair enough. If he doesn't fumble on Sunday he has a nice day there against the Pats. If he can compliment Moreno consistently and make some big plays for us he'll win me over.

I attended the game and only got to see the replay last night. What surprised me from watching the replay was actually how well Lamar Miller played. Yes, he made some mistakes but he still made consistent good yardage and 1st downs and scored a TD.
I think this criticism of Lamar is total B/S. I think that he's improved. Knowshon contributed a lot more but we need both.

BS or not, I didn't have the same vibe with Miller in the game as I did with Moreno. However, maybe we should just agree to disagree and move on.

You know how stats are. Sometimes they just don't tell the whole story and can make a guy look better or worse on paper than they really are. For the heck of it, I pulled up the game book and did a little comparison between Miller and Moreno. We all know that Miller had a TD and a fumble, while Moreno had a TD. What is interesting is we didn't target Moreno in the passing game at all. I wasn't sure what would be considered a respectable average per pass threshold, so I used the same number (4 yards) as I did with the runs. Maybe it should be higher since there is more risk with a pass than a run. Anyway... Miller was targeted 4 times and 3 of those were 4 yards or more. His average was 4.8. It should be noted that Moreno isn't bad catching balls out of the backfield either. Last year was his highest year. He had 548 yards with a 9.1 average. Of course that is with Payton as his QB. Never-the-less I was surprised that we didn't target him at all this game. I wonder if that will change this week?
