no one saw anything in him but us, therefore, he is considered a hidden gem.
He would have been picked at some point. We got him at a spot with great value. Lucky it was us that jumped first.

Going into the draft this year one of the players i watched in college football was lamar miller. He reminded me of a prime clinton portis. I saw alot of draft boards at nfl.com before the draft and almost every draft board had him as the 3rd best Running back in this class, some even had him 2nd behind richardson. I thought he was a shoe in to be a first round pick, i really did. Going into this draft i wanted miami to take a RB, most notably, richardson :), yes i wanted richardson but i knew we needed a quarterback and it wasnt going to happen, it was just a silly pipedream i had. The other option was lamar miller, i also thought there was no way he'd make it to us in the 2nd round. As the draft went on though, i could not believe he was still there in the 4th round, thats when i saw ireland make his move and trade up to grab him. Overjoyed would be an understatement, i cannot wait to see this kid pair up with reggie bush at the rb position, 2 home run threats, explosiveness, agile, lightining fast. Its about damn time miami finally took some chances in the draft, and i believe philbin had alot to do with these "new" decisions. Alot of people want to give all the credit to ireland, but when sparano was here, ireland was never taking these "chances"
Preseason cannot get here sooner enough, i am excited about seeing tannenhill-miller the most because i think they will have the biggest impact on this team.
I was pretty stoked too my friend. I and get goosebumps thinking of Reggie bush and Lamar miller in the back field at the same time, than go in motion. WOOT WOOT.
Not sure what "chances" or "new decisions" you are referring to Ireland now making that he hasn't before. By your own post, Miller was rated highly so that doesn't seem like a chance to take him. And the trade up in a mid round looks a lot like the Daniel Thomas move last year. It's obvious you like Miller more than Thomas, and I there's nothing wrong with that, I just don't see how taking Miller equates into "new decisions" or "chances" by Ireland.
Just about every team passed up on him, a 1st round potential talent but had injury concerns that scared everyone away, except the dolphins.
So Ireland's never drafted someone that other team's have passed on ? I'm all for your enthusiasm about Miller, I just don't understand how it reflects a change in direction for Ireland.
im not taking away credit from ireland, im just giving philbin some credit, i think he had a big influence in the dolphins 2012 draft.
um........................ ok?
We rolled the dice for a potential gamebreaker. I was pleasently SHOCKED when I tuned into the draft and saw Miami grabbed him at the top of the 4th round.. Made my day for sure and might have turned our average draft into something special.
Time will tell but in a few years this draft with Tannehill and Miller (plus the others) might be the one that got the ball rolling on our return to the promised land.
on a side note: Boy am i glad Jeff Fisher turned us down. Philbin is the perfect coach for this young team.
