I was looking for a lot out of this guy. Has anybody seen him play here yet? Has he made any plays? Is he hurt? I just have not seen any post about the gut and I thought he would make a huge impact on the secondary.:yell:

supposedly he was having trouble learning the system and coming around slowly... so we'll see

It's Preseason Dude Cum Down Sheeze......
I 100% agree. The guy is going to be solid at the very least. Why don't we wait until the games really matter until we pass judgement on the guy.

he's learning the system, though he had some nice tackles on the second team.

I don't think that Big Fish RI was passing judgement yet on Lance. He honestly sounds more confused as to why he hasn't heard any stellar news about him from anyone on the board or the newspapers. Then again....maybe he was with the little "yell" icon thingy.

Fish RI....Schulters was dinged up a little bit...nothing serious. And he has been slow so far in picking up the system. When he gets some more time on the field practicing (once again, he was dinged up a bit and has practiced sparingly) he should be just fine.....I hope.

He's got too much talent to stink the place up. Of course, if Lance is simply not smart enough to catch on he might never be able to play without thinking and thus limit the use of his skills.

That said...I don't think that Saban would have signed a guy then after the interview process Saban said "you know, he's a very talented safety and we need safety help pretty bad but he's got the I.Q. of a salad bar. Argh...what the heck, let's sign him even though we have to outbid one other team and I'm postive that the guy will in no way be able to learn my ultra-complex defensive scheme. Let's see the All-Pro struggle real bad and break his confidence" Nick Saban..........something tells me that this was NOT what Saban thought when the two of them put pen to paper. :)

well first of all, its pre-season no worries he will see his fair share of playing time in the season and second of all he was brought in right before the HOF game and has to finnish learning the system, no worries man you will see him this year

don't judge Vets off of what they do in preseason. because they don't care to perform during preseason. Its the truth. a lot of people refuse to believe it, but it is the truth. Guys like Shulters, madison, thomas, taylor, or seau aren't gonna go out there and go crazy for games that don't count.

Could not agree more, great post!
I once read the book by Tim Green (played for the Falcons) and he also said that there is nothing more overrated as preseason and training camp. Especially for the veterans. They do not have to prove themselves, they know they are starters. All they care about is not getting injured.

while i agree with this, i think our situation this year is a little different since everything is changing, the coaching, the playbook, the offensive and defensive philosophy, etc...

i think these guys need to learn the system and show the new coaches they can execute them even as veterans, especially someone just recently signed...

Especially with Saban in charge now. I think everyone is giving 100%, because if they don't, Saban will put somebody in who will. If I remember correctly, no one is safe at any position.
