Landry 134th in the league in YPC

Saying Kenny Stills is a more "complete" receiver than Jarvis Landry, when Kenny Stills can't block a lawn chair is a mind-numbingly stupid. Can we please stop the madness here lol?
almost as dumb as saying Landry is a top 5 receiver that deserves 14 million because of his emotion and effort. I have never been a big fan of his and think him moving on will be very good for this offense. People get all glossy eyed looking at his catch volume.

Could it be that, unlike our front office, they factor in his age and KNOW that they need a plan B....father time is undefeated after all...We should be so fortunate to have forward thinking going on but unfortunately, unlike KC, we are not in position as a TEAM to be able to think farther than one season at a time...

It's time we move ahead of the curve rather than continually being "a day late and a dollar short"

IMO
No, you don't make the massive trade up for a QB like they did last year if that was the reason. He is just a conservative QB plain and simple. He will get you to the playoffs, just can't elevate his game in the playoffs to make a winner. He is who he is and that is fine, but he will never be a savior to a team.

this may be the dumbest post I have ever read on this forum. Alex Smith is the most conservative QB in the league by a country mile. He refuses to take chances.

Maybe in previous years but not in 2017. Smith was the best deep passer in the league this past season. 16 of 30 for 815 yards 8 tds and 0 Ints on passes thrown over 31 yards.

While Ryan was better in 2016 then he had been with deep throws he has never come close to this type procifiency. His best season he completed 6 of 18 with 2 TD’s. In fact Smith’s deep passing last season scored as many TD’s as Ryan has in his whole career.

Ryan Tannehill on passes over 31 yards in air in his entire career

26 for 105 with 8 TD’s and 8 Ints.

smith matched that in one season with 75 less passes

I doubt one specific stat is going to define this guy. Not to mention he played with Jay "friggin" Cutler. How did he rank this year? This was obviously a down year with a washed up QB and also his lowest ypc season. Last year he was closer to 74 and in the same range as Demaryius Thomas, Doug Baldwin, DeAndre Hopkins. Oh...and he was tied for 6th in TD's this year.

You can’t say this year doesn’t count for his YPC then use this year as an example for how he was 6th in TDs…

slow your roll

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill NFL’s 2nd-best deep ball thrower (via Deep Ball Project)
Joe Schad
May 9, 2017 2017 offseason, 2017 Regular season, Front office, Joe Schad.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill completed 61 percent of passes that were in the air for longer than 20 yards, which was second in the NFL in 2016, according to the Deep Ball Project.
Tannehill also completed 64 percent of passes that were in the air longer than 16 yards, fourth in the NFL.

The progression of Ryan Tannehill has been wonderful to watch for those who look deeper. In the last two seasons, his deep ball has become one of the league’s best, so it should be no surprise he’s become a downfield master under Adam Gase.
With better defined routes, Tannehill’s accuracy soared. His overall accuracy of 64.1% was 4th in 2016, and his accuracy on throws of 20+ was 61.0%, The 2nd highest (only behind Derek Carr).

Despite suffering from some receiver drops, Tannehill’s accuracy and placement were astonishingly good. We’re talking throws that rival the ones Aaron Rodgers makes on a daily basis!

Whatever dude. Stats don’t lie. 8 Deep TD’s in one season vs 8 in an entire 5 year career.

Yes Ryan got better, but no where near Smith’s improvement this past year

If we compare Ryan’s great deep passing season last year and we go with passes thrown just over 21 yards he still doesn’t come close to what Smith did this year on passes over 31 yards in air.

Ryan 16 of 40 641 yards 8 TD 4 Ints
Smith 16 of 30 815 yards 8 TD 0 Ints

Well get a qb like alex smith who can hit him deep for 49 yards

I love Landry but Since he's been a Dolphin, 4 years
he's been apart of 12 Fourth Quarter Comebacks and Game-Winning Drives

In those 12 game Fourth Quarter Comebacks and Game-Winning Drives
Landry has produced

9 receptions for 96 yards with 2 tds

I have to compare those numbers to other #1 wide receivers

That stat is useless. Especially with poor o line play and QB play

Miami’s only weapon was Landry. At 8 yards a catch. It is not an indication of Landry but how bad the offense and coaching is. Get a real qb and Landry will average 12 yards a catch
Well, since that's what he averaged with Tannehill, you are admitting that Tannehill is a real QB. Glad we settled that one.

People are trying to come up with BS like YPC cause there preparing themselves to be let down when the idiot T bum don't resign him. Stuff like this Is nonsense. We did the same thing on the Kiko and Maxwell deal when Tunsil was used as a guard. Now the trade we regret since Tunsil ain't doing well playing LT, Maxwell no longer a Dolphin and kiko misses more tackles and gets burned by TE,s. Losing Landry will haunt us the same way. This will be anther fail by the bum T bum
