I figured he'd get knocked for somewhere around $25,000.

They're saying Williams career could be over.

I actually read that today too. Has a lot to do with the fact that its not the first time hes dealt with a neck injury. It was a bang bang play and I don't think anyone other than the Bills thinks there was malicious intent. Ten years ago that is a highlight reel play and being shown on Sportscenter. Times may change, but the fact that football is a violent sport and players are at risk every single play will never change. Its just the nature of the beast. Don't think you can hold it against hi.

landry left his feet and launched himself into his head. That was a dirty hit.

he may have ended somebody's career and livelihood. I hope this isn't the case.
God bless him and his family.
I've said it before, I love his passion but I hate his stupidity.

Oh I'm not mad at what Landry did, I'm quite ok with it. It's a violent sport, being more violent than the other team is a good thing. And one of the differences in violent sports compared to baseball and basketball is you can take the pride and energy right out of your opponent by physically damaging them.

Just sucks for Williams.

Williams was thinking about retirement last season...he should think about it again.
Cornerback Stephon Gilmore told the AP that Williams was experiencing numbness in one of his arms. The team and Williams' father would not confirm what Gilmore said.

Anthony Williams would say only that doctors ruled out a concussion and that his son is experiencing soreness in one of his shoulders. He also said his son's mouth was bloodied after the hit because he bit the inside of his cheek.
Last year, Aaron Williams hurt his neck while diving headfirst in an attempt to tackle New England receiver Julian Edelman. Williams missed the final 11 games and had neck surgery, during which doctors shaved two disks to alleviate nerve damage.

Williams said he elected to continue playing after doctors assured him there was no increased risk of reinjury.

I'm wondering how they came up with a bogus number like 24,309??? Is it based on the medical bills of Williams!!!

What pisses me off is that's not a crack back block, not even a blind side hit. NFL is just pussified

It's hard not to question how responsible it was to allow Williams to play again. It was a tough hit, but he was like a baby lamb on that play. It's been a long time since I've seen an NFL Safety take it like that from a WR on a run block. Landry wasn't slick or anything. He just ran across the field, directly at Williams, and Williams never saw him, never felt him until it was too late. I hope he gets better, and I hope he hangs them up. I wouldn't judge him if he tried to come back, but I'm worried about this guy's health.

Let's just hope Landry survives the trip, when they play the Bills in Buff. You can bet someone will be gunning for him for revenge..

The fine amount has nothing to do with Williams or any player salary or medical bill. The fine is the standard amount this year for hitting a defenseless player/impermissible use of the helmet, including illegal launching (which Landry did.)

These fines down to the dollar are silly. It suggests some sort of highly scientific and precise process is at play. Perhaps there is some weighted average percentage of the XYZ salary calculus behind the scene - the kind of crap that justifies some consultants or analysts job.

This is so typical of today's NFL.
