First, let’s make one thing clear: Jarvis Landry is not fast.
He’s smart, especially for a rookie wide receiver. He’s a playmaker. But he’s not fast.

“But he’s quick, man,” fellow Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace said. “He takes a lot of steps — a lot of small steps, but he takes a lot of them. He’s a lot more quick than he is fast. He’ll get where he needs to get. He’s still an explosive player, even without being fast.”
He’s also a player on the rise.
Landry is undoubtedly a big part of Miami’s future at receiver, but his latest performance raised questions as to whether he should be starting over Gibson now.

“He’s more at the comprehension level of even a third-year player,” Hartline said. “He’s ahead of his time as far as his age goes. He’s exciting to play with and he communicates well.”
Landry might be meeting or even exceeding expectations five games into his rookie season, but he said he’s not close to satisfied. That first touchdown, he said, made him hungry to “score more.”
“I have a different level of expectations for myself,” he said. “There’s a lot of potential that I have and I’ve just got to continue to keep working. I’m nowhere near my potential.”
