I am well impressed with the skillful play of this young, talented receiver. This one play captures the essence of Jarvis Landry...two Hall of Fame moves and laying it out for the touchdown!

This is a 40 second gif and is 39 MB in size.

There were some interesting things about this play:
1. Landry was focused after the touchdown. He did not celebrate. I goddamn love that! There's more game to play, right Jarvis?
2. The hustle of the OL down the field to help Landry. None of them did much after their sprint...but it looked damn good! I like to see that kind of sprinting and hustle by linemen!
3. Landry made more than two moves, but the most awesome were when he stopped from going out of bounds after the catch and when he did that push skip move towards the goal line at the end of his run.

Besides the many, MANY positives of what Landry accomplished, what this gif illustrates is the failed Defensive philosophy of going for the strip instead of simply wrapping up and making the tackle. Players are being taught to play craps instead of making a solid investment, in financial terms.

Actually stripping the ball happens maybe once every 50 attempts; it's a low-return investment once you've taken the time and effort to get that close to the ball carrier. Tackling stops the ball from going farther and possibly beating you.

Everyone is shooting the dice, looking for the highlight reel **** instead of simply playing solid D.

WWZTD?

Since I had made this gif, I was pretty sure that the things you noted about this particular play were in error...so I watched it a few more times.

The Texans defense was desperate to tackle Landry. I did not see one attempt at stripping the ball.

What I did see was man after man juked out of their cleats! Look at the way Landry can stop and shift, then go to top gear instantly!

He's intense. He's a winner. He wants to score every time he touches the ball.

He's a beast.

Disagree with you on one thing...the OL running downfield is what got him in the endzone. Pouncey's block on at the end cleared the safety to the goal line. Without that block I don't know if we see a touchdown on that play.

One of the greatest plays you will ever see...a great football player on his way to being the greatest receiver in Dolphin history.

The play is mesmerizing! Watching it over and over again does not diminish it at all.

I believe you're right. It is one of the greatest plays you'll ever see, created by a player who may be remembered as the greatest ever receiver in Dolphin history.

When I see the wave of OL coming to block for a guy busting his arse all the time, I know this team is coming together and you can expect great things to come. For many years I have complained about OL standing there watching the play finish. We finally have a staff that is not going to tolerate it. I have also noticed a lot of down field blocking by ALL the receivers. God the improvement is amazing. I personally could not ask for anything different. I am again a PROUD Dolfan.

My favorite part of the Jarvis Landry run was when he decided to merge with his three O-linemen.

At this point, most WRs might have headed upfield. But Jarvis Landry (#14) was aware that he had a big convoy of three O-linemen coming up.

So instead, Jarvis Landry moves sideways, and smoothly merges with his three O-linemen, to form a big juggernaut, ready to crush the smaller DBs defending the endzone.

the best move he made was the hop skip in the middle of the field when he was crossing the middle of the field to elude 2 converging defenders...same move he made except vertically vs the skins on the punt return...

that's baller stuff

Landry has a natural feel for the game and while he isn't "fast" he is quick and has learned how to get the most out of his athletic ability...

Those are awesome frame grabs. Those three linemen getting down field represent the biggest change in the team. Everybody is working to win.

Ha! I thought the best part was him pirouetting away from the sideline to beat his man and start off the run! Let's face it, there were a lot of highlights to that one play!
