Lanford will be a solid starter for us in the future; we need players for 3-4 scheme.

There are many needs in this draft, the overall majority
would have to say that our defensive tackles are aged,
inexperienced, and they don't fit the type of defensive
scheme that our coaches have mind. Lanford will solidify
our defensive line by providing versatility within the defensive
tackle, and defensive end position.

As you all are true wittneses of our horrific
performance when attempting to stop a run play,
I would not question the value of this draft pick.
Lanford managed to impress scouts with his strength,
speed, and quickness. I can attest that if we did not
pick this player then our buddies of New England would
have drafted him. The patriots 3rd round pick was no
other than a player who would play end/linebacker in their
defensive scheme as Lanford will do for us. I hope
you enjoy the rest of the draft as we can reserve all
judgement when training camp comes.

I agree. He's not exactly a "sexy" pick as he will never put up gaudy numbers.

But on the other hand, he has outstanding upper body strength and that is exactly what you look for in a 3-4 DE. He has all the makings of an oustanding 2-gap player for years to come.

he is the perfect DE in a 3-4 like ty warren type if not seymoure. 56 plays for a loss and 24.5 sacks. thats good #'s for a guy "that doesnt make plays as ya'll say" hes a player many 3-4 teams wanted ESPECIALLY the jets.

The defensive end still managed to lead the team with a career-high 72 tackles (32 solos), ranking second on the squad with six sacks, 13.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage and twelve pressures in eleven games. He caused two fumbles, batted away a pass and returned an interception for a touchdown. He also blocked a field goal.

Lets not forget he played in a 3-4 Scheme! Thouse stats are very very good for a 3-4 end !

The pick suxs when you have a big gaping hole at left guard and a lack of depth at all positions on the o-line. There will be plenty of competetion on the D-line. The cupboard is bare as far as a starter and depth on the O-line.
