You dont pass on a player with this much ability.. Move Jason Allen to CB..
Guy runs a 4.3, hits like a truck and can cover ...Our defense would be feared...we take a LT tackle in round 2 then a center...

If the top O-players are gone, I would love Landry. Much better idea than reaching for an offensive player that should go in the teens. Also wouldn't mind Okoye at 9. I think both these guys can be Pro-bowlers for years.

People need to realize what an important position Safety. Look at the difference Bob Sanders made to the Colt D. Polomanu, Ed Reed, Harrison.....a great Safety is one key to most SB teams.

LaRon Landry owns. The player brings a type of toughness that a guy like Brian Urlacher brings to his defense.

I love Landry, but safety isn't as premier a position as CB, DE, or LT, and all three positions we could use help at and their should be premier talent left on the board at 9 from those positions. I won't be disappointed with Landry by any means, but it makes no sense to move Allen considering how much progress he showed at the end of the year with his range and tackling.

Where were those safeties drafted at? We could have our safety like an Ed Reed on our roster already in Jason Allen, you people aren't even giving him as chance. When Baltimore drafted Ed Reed, they didn't even know how good he would be.

Yea but look at the Colts with Sanders and it shows how much a good saftey can improve a D

Stitches, if all 32 teams could do it all over again where do you think these safeties would be taken? Top 5 at worst in their respected draft classes.

Right now not down the road but right now Landry is being compared to Reed. We hope Allen gets there. IMO you just don't pass on this type of player period. Who's to say and/or guarantee another S prospect will be available next draft or even the one after that?

Yes, I know along with Colston and DeMeco Ryans, and Marcus mcNeil from last season. But safety isn't such a premier position to use a top ten pick on, especially considering we drafted one at 16 last year, and seem to like Bell(considering the 2nd round tender). I was all for drafting Landry or nelson a month ago, but then I thought about how much money we would have invested into the position, and the production involved. If we have Landry and Allen back there(which is what I was going on and on about a month or so ago) someone will not be getting much bang for the buck. Someone's stats will take a hit based on the type of defense we play, and overall it would be a poor investment on one player because of that when we could take a shutdown corner like Hall, a franchise LT like Brown or a DE like Anderson or Carriker. If Landry or Nelson were absolutely far and away BPA, then I could see taking either one. But the drop off to someone like Hall isn't that significant IMO, and possibly no drop off in talent from landry to Carriker/Anderson. Hell, it could very well work out that Minny takes Landry, and Houston takes Nelson if they can't make a move for Quinn. Certainly Houston could go any number of ways with thier pick, just like us. If on draft day we pick Landry, I will be jumping up and down from that pick(in a good way), I just think for long term success we could make a better pick.

I wish we had a position to give Carriker. I do not approve of spending a first rounder for the guy unless he becomes a starter, not just a high-rotation player. If your concerned about drafting a guy based on making a rotation how about Patrick Willis and actually having a follow up player to Zach Thomas? Matt Roth is what 25? I know the guys behind him are question marks, but I'd agree even on Levi Brown that there are much more significant needs and players with arguably similiar talent.

It's not like a franchise QB is being passed over.

I want the BPA and if by some chance Quinn, Johnson or Thomas falls to us then I want them but other than that I want Laron Landry after his combine performance. The only knock I had on Landry before the combine was his athletic ability and he knocked that one out of the park for me.

Our D has been feared for the better part of the last 10 years, whats that gotten us?? Miami needs playmakers. They just spen 20 mill to put more fear in opponents on D as well as used a 1st rd'er last year on a safety. Safeties also arent worth the #9 pick. But if they get to 9 and think they can trade down 2-4 picks and still get him as well as another draft pick then Id take him there and get another pick. Now id take D at #9 if Branch is still there, if not Brown, Quinn, or Ginn Jr.

If Yerehmiah Bell gets snagged we are short a Safety but up another 2nd rounder. I hear Mueller would not counter an offer from another team and would take there pick. That is why Laron Landry will be our pick. He is better than anything we got and we could lose one of the two we have.

Jason Allen will never be Ed Reed. Laron Landry is more like Ed Reed by far. Landry is a headhunter.
