I noticed this morning that the Charlotte Bobcats fired Sam Vincent, their head coach, after just one season. One season that was hardly filled with very high expectations, i dont think anyone really thought they'd be a playoff team. They did get Jason Richardson though so i guess another 50 loss season was unacceptable.

Now, Larry Brown resigned as Sixers VP or whatever his title was, a few days ago. He did this citing that his desire to coach again had grown.

Does anyone think that Larry, being a UNC alum and former assistant coach under Dean Smith might make his return to North Carolina by heading back to coach the Bobcats?

Apparently, i hadn't hear this before, Brown said a few days or weeks ago that he would like to coach in Charlotte if the job became available. This was before Sam Vincent was fired.

I hope so...because they disappointed me this year. They need a great coach like Brown. It was probably stupid and homeristic, but I really thought we could have fought for the 8th seed this year. Theres always next year and Ill be happy if we get Larry Brown

Expectations of a playoff berth in Charlotte were very reasonable when the competition is two sub-.500 teams. The 'Cats have some major issues though. Wallace and Richardson can't play together in the backcourt and Wallace got sick of playing PF pretty quickly.

Brown could take this squad to the playoffs and probably mold them into the best defensive squad in the league if he got Okafor to stick around. The problem is the issue of paper. Charlotte won't give him anywhere near what he was making in New York and Milwaukee just might.

It was a mistake from the get go to trade for Richardson. But still, we have a bunch of solid player. Okafor, Wallace, Felton. No stars, but they should have been good enough to at least be in the fight for the 7th or 8th seed in a weak east.

In hindsight with what Thad Young and Thornton are doing you can call the trade a mistake. But if you see it as a swap of Wright for Richardson, the 'Cats come out looking pretty good.

The Bobcats just have problems all over the place. They need a true center so Okafor can slide over to PF. They have four guys who are stuck at SF, unless Morrison resurrects himself and becomes a long range threat. And Felton has been a huge disappointment after all the promise he showed at Carolina.

Remind me again why we picked Morrison over Roy?

Morrison has to be one of the biggest busts in recent memory...All the hype he had coming out of college, and nothing to show in the league for it.

Probably not THE biggest bust, but he's definitely up there.

Why he has only played last season? He's been hurt this season. It's too early to judge.

And hes back.....

Well-traveled Larry Brown has reached an agreement to return to the NBA as coach of the Charlotte Bobcats, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Monday.

The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not been made, said Brown was expected to sign a contract on Tuesday. The Bobcats called an afternoon news conference for what they termed a "major basketball announcement."

The 67-year-old Hall of Famer will be taking over his ninth NBA team, and it will be his first coaching job since a messy exit from the New York Knicks in 2006. Brown will replace Sam Vincent, fired on Saturday after going 32-50 in his one season.
Reached early Tuesday, Vincent said he wasn't surprised that part-owner Michael Jordan decided to bring in a veteran coach.

"Michael never said that he was hiring coach Brown. He just said they were going to make some decisions that were in the best interest of the organization," Vincent said. "So I kind of assumed of going in the direction of hiring a veteran coach and someone who was very popular in the community."

good place for him to go. If he was gonna coach again he needed to go to a team that was willing to listen to him. I knew the New York job would fail because Brown preaching "the right way" to play basketball doesn't mesh well with guys that play for themselves in Marbury,QRich,Francis,Curry, Crawford and to a lesser extent Robinson (had they just given him a team built around Frye,Lee, and Ariza it would not have been such a travesty).

And to call Morrison a bust when he's only been able to play one year is a bit unfair. You can call him out for not bringing anything outside of scoring to the table, but that's about it right now.
