Larry Chester is a menace on the D line. How is his progress going? Will he be ready to play and be effective by the season opener? He was very over weight, has he gat down to his playing size. Having him on the D line would be a drastic improvement for our pass rush and runs stop. Does anyone know anything about his condition?

thank you

He'll probably start the season on the PUP list and then we'll decide later on in the season what to do. It's sad because he's a great DL.

I really hope that he will be able to return to our lineup HEALTHY and in GOOD SHAPE. (Definitely a lot to ask for at this point and time.) I have been waiting to hear some news on him, but I have only heard very little you guys. I am really rooting for him to get back on the field for us. He's definitely a HUGE piece (no pun intended) of our Defensive Line whether he cracks the starting lineup or not, I would love to see him back in action because even though we're a lot better off at DT than we originally thought we were, we are still pretty thin.

I agree he is a good Dlineman and we could really use him. That being said I am really impressed with how Saban is handling our injured players. (He who shall not be named) did this team a terrible disservice time and time again by not knowing how to handle his injured players. I'll name them, Mark Dixon his ankle was badly hurt however was rushed back into the lineup due to the fact we had nobody else worth a dam. He could never fully recover. Damion Mcintosh was rushed back into the lineup last year and struggled all year. I feel like if he had a couple of more weeks to recover his play would of been much better. Well I guess I only named 2 guys but it sure felt like more. Regardless Dixon might be playing today if not rushed back to play on an ankle that clearly wasnt ready. Better to have Chester wait and come back when he is ready opposed to having him rushed back and never be fully recovered.

can Tim Bowens be added to that list? Or was his an on-going injury that wouldn't heal regardless of time allowed?

Chester's not even starting is he??isnt it.......Traylor,and Holliday or Bowens?
Chester hasn't been starting at all for us. The two most frequent lineups I have seen have been:

LDE: Kevin Carter
NT: Keith Traylor
RDE: Vonnie Holliday
OE (open end): Jason Taylor

LDE: Kevin Carter (followed by Roth, Solomona, and Denney)
NT: Keith Traylor (Shaw, Vickerson, and Rhodes)
RDT: Vonnie Holliday (Zgonina, Romero, Wright, and Chester)
RDE: Jason Taylor (Bowens and Walters)

It's a bit confusing to say the least, but the most frequent I have been seeing is Keith Traylor as the NT with Carter and Holliday as the DE's and JT as the "Open End". Also whenever we use two DT's, it seems to be for now that it's Traylor and Holliday (With Zgonina, Romero, Wright, Shaw, and Vickerson backing up). Very confusing... but I tried my best ellaborating.

I thought he unretired?
Tim Bowens had planned on retiring after we had released him (due to his back injury) but than he had later decided he would take off a year to heal from his back and try to give it another go next year. He also stated that he would want to play for the Dolphins if he was able to return from his injury, but it wouldn't be until next year and the odds are still slim to none. But as of now, the only Bowens on our team is DE David Bowens.
