Larry Csonka cameo on the classic 70s TV show "Emergency!"

I'm not sure how many fellow old timers there are on the site, but one of my favorite shows as a kid (and TBH, an adult too) was/is "Emergency!" It's still on weekday afternoons on Cozi TV from 11 am - 2 pm. Well, I was watching the other day when the boys from Engine 51 responded to a call at a construction site, where a worker had inhaled hazardous chemicals and it drove him berserk. He was threatening to fight everyone that tried to help him. Then it dawned on me....that's Larry Csonka!! Well, three of the guys from Engine 51 tried to help him, and he pummelled all of them (see the attached pic of Csonka pile driving Chet Kelly 😆). It finally took five firemen to subdue Csonka. I can't find the video on YouTube, but if you have access to streaming sites, it's in episode 1, season 4 "The Screenwriter".

Very fitting, considering it normally took 5 D-players to stop Zonk in games.

Can't believe with all the Emergency! Episode I watched as a kid, never either saw that episode or did not recognize him.

I have seen it on as well, but, couldn't recall which station. Thought it was MeTV or something like that.

I, too, enjoyed the show as a kid but it has not aged well.

A healthy Csonka made Bob Griese's job much easier.
Yeah but it actually reached the point that Griese became underrated due to nonsense that he couldn't operate without the devastating running game. Griese ended that topic with the great season in 1977.

Anyway, Csonka was quite the character, as I've emphasized many times. He was a beloved figure with natural charisma and quips. That's why he landed those roles. And I'm sure he could have had many more of them if he wasn't such an outdoorsman type who prefers Alaska to Hollywood.

Thought this was gonna be That 70s Show

☹️

Wouldn’t make a ton of sense to have a classic Dolphin in there unless to grind Reds gears or something lol

It’s great to see that Csonka is still going strong in his late 70’s. I remember they had a special helmet made for him because of all the concussions he suffered playing in the NFL. In fact he suffered six concussions in his first two years in the league and he had his nose broken 12 times playing football from high school through the his time in the NFL.

With all the great old timers who have suffered with and died of CTE over the years. Seeing Csonka still active and enjoying life makes this old timer smile.
