After seeing weeks and weeks of every draft article and special on ESPN I can't help but wonder about the possibility of us taking this guy with our 1st rounder. I know we have other areas to address but there are really no ELITE CB's in this years draft and I see no reason to reach for someone who may not be where he's projected, although I'm sure Parcells is light years ahead of me on that one. Many project him to go late in the 1st and I think he'd be a great eventual replacement for Porter as our rush hybrid in the 3-4. He's got the right size already 6-3 255 lbs and according to just about everyone, has above average to excellent pass rush skills. He also is a hard worker/high character type, having won the MAC's Vern Smith Leadership Award (league MVP) in 2007 and 2008. Seems like the Tuna's kinda guy. I didn't see a thread about this yet, so I figured I'd post it and apologize if this has already been brought up. I'm just getting back to the boards since last football season......

I am very interested in English; however, lately I have seen his projections drop in to the 2nd round. I think I would rather go CB at #25 and if available, English with 2A.

I agree with you and have posted it previously. You are going to get a lot of raspberries for posting this from the H. Nicks supporters, be prepared for it.

I doubt Nicks is available at #25. A more interesting prospect is Ramses Barden. 6-6 4.5 40 with solid hands. He will be a nice mid rounder for someone.

I recently read the Dolphins have not met with English since the Combine. I took him off my list of players Miami was interested in. They have no workouts schedule and have not contacted him.

But English relayed through Northern Illinois that he hasn't been invited to visit or work out for Miami.

Miami has been linked to Clay Matthews, Cody Brown, Paul Krueger, David Veikune, Connor Barwin, Robert Ayers, Everette Brown, Aaron Maybin, Lawrence Sidbury, Rusell Allen, Moise Fokou, DeAndre Levy, Dan Skuta and Clint Sintim.

All of these players have had workouts with Miami. The only guy Im not sure is Clint Sintim, but because of the connection with Al Grohl and Parcells Im sure they have looked at him.

If they are comfortable with him as a person and player and if the medical staff has no need to look him over it would be just a waste of time to fly him down.

They have 50 games of tape on him, no need to talk with him anymore then they have to, if are 100% sold on a guy or 100% not sold on him.

You should add him on your list of players Miami is interested in because sometimes not talking to a guy means alot more then talking to him.

Take Phillip Merling for example . . . he spoke with Miami at the Senior Bowl and at the Combine . . . Miami probably went to his Pro day (tho he had the injury), but the last time they spoke with him was at the Combine.

Working out a player does mean something . . . but if a player with value drops into our lap, we will select him regardless if we have worked him out or not.

If BJ Raji fell to 25 (trust me I know that is not going to happen) . . I don't think Miami has worked him out . . . I am pretty sure we would take him from a value standpoint as well as filling a need. Tons of tape on these guys and these guys have a list of players in order from a BPA perspective.

I like Connor Barwin better. The Dolphins will take the guy with the highest grade if someone slips to them, unless they have taken them off their board because of character concerns (Percy Harvin). I believe they will take the best player available regardless of position even if it is not a huge need.

I like Barwin alot and would love to see him as a phin, but I'm not sure if the phins have a choice between English and Barwin that they would take Barwin. I don't like English's measurables but he was a much more productive college player and according to Ireland college play trumps the combine. I would be happy with either I just think Barwin has more potential.

I like English too...he seems like the perfect fit.....what I'd like to see from our top 4 picks is an OLB,Corner,NT and a WR

Ozzy rules!!

I would not be upset at all if we took English. He really has no flaws in his game and looks like a relatively safe pick at 25. I'm really starting to warm up to him and Darius Butler.

I agree, Barwin has multiple talents to give at the position and has the hugest upside IMO. If they follow their principles, they would have Barwin rated around 25 IMO or higher. It probly comes down to Pasqualoni's opine on how he would use him or see him in the system. but I think this dude could give us so much more especially if he bulks up 10 lbs of muscle.
