Larry Hughes Will Be A Cav

Atleast the Cavs picked up someone. That should be enough for them to get to the playoffs in the East if Lebron keeps improving.

No surprise.

Nice spelling, Mr. Ford..."Larry intends to sign a contract with the Cavs when the moritorium ends," Wechsler said. I believe the word is moratorium.

Oh, why am I such a nerd? :D

I like the move, because Hughes is one of the most criminally underrated players in the NBA and has been for awhile now. The only problem is that Cleveland still needs a long-range shooter, and Hughes really doesn't help them much.

If I'm John Paxson, I'm making a run at Kyle Korver ASAP. He'd probably come for $4M or so and would be an ideal fit for what they need.

He is a restricted free agent, no way the 76ers let this guy go...They will match any offer that is not stupid and over the top..

The Sixers have a payroll around $66M. They've got to spend nearly the max to keep Sam Dalembert, and also have Willie Green as a free agent. They can't re-sign all of them, and would surely let Korver go before Dalembert. I think if someone offers Korver $5M a year, the Sixers will let him walk. He's probably not quite worth that much, but sometimes you've got to overpay a little.

Im surprised Hughes didnt stay with Washington

Im not. Im a wizards fan, this is standard operating procedure for Honest Abe. Let someone go when another team is willing to payup. Hughes might not be a great fit in Cleveland. He needs to handle the ball a lot and isnt a good shooter. His defense is really overrated, he was completely abused in the Heat series by Wade. Wade's a great player but the defensive 1st team Sg should have slowed him down. Im not sure Hughes is worth the kind of money he got, I probaly would have given him the cash though.
Hughes, he is a really, really good player I like the guy a lot but he did have a career year, hes normally been a 15pt a night scorer. Its always iffy to give guys that coincedentally have their biggest years in their contract year big deals. Theres a lot of salary caps out there that are destroyed with guys like this.
Cleveland still has some caproom to sign others, they have a great chance to become a contender. Good luck with Hughes, I wish him the best, he was great for the Wiz when we had him. Abe should have put up the money to keep him but if we can find a solid replacement we should still be a playoff team. Arenas and Jamison are a solid core of a good team.

I remember when all three of those guys played for the Warriors. God were we terrible. ;p

Cavs fans must be pissed they didn't even take a shot at Bobby Simmons. He plays the 3 but atleast this guy can shoot. He is a rich man's Kyle Korver..

and Simmons probaly would have signed for half the cost of Hughes.

Simmons got alot (47mil) but, if I were the Cavs I would rather have a young budding player, than a injury prone 2 guard that can't shoot..

As a Sixers fan I would rather lose Korver than Dalembert.....Korver is a good 3 point shooter but he cant take the ball to the hoop and is so so on defense..The Sixers also picked the Naismith High School player of the year in Louis Williams and he can likely play the 2 guard spot....the Sixers had Larry Hughes in their lineup a while back and they gave up on him.
