For one-time workhorse Larry Johnson, the handoffs stopped coming nearly a year ago. He says he learned his lesson waiting for another chance to carry the ball.Johnson signed Tuesday with the Miami Dolphins and knows he must quickly make a good impression, including off the field, where repeated missteps derailed his career.
"It's kind of hard to convince anybody with my colorful background that, yeah, I've changed," said Johnson. "But you change with every situation you go through. You know that you can't get many more shots. You do the best you can with your opportunity and ride on out to the sunset."
Johnson sat out most of 2010 after being released by the Washington Redskins last September. He twice made the Pro Bowl and has career rushing totals of 6,221 yards and 55 scores, but his most recent touchdown came in 2008.

Welp, good luck LJ. If you don't act like a douche and manage to perform decently, you'll get your shot here.

Could care less about off-field incidents. We ask these guys to shed the blood of brothers in a frantic state of rage for a living and act surprised when they slap their wife around or haul off at the mouth. They are lunatics. Makes them good at what they do if not better. We would be fortunate to find that the majority are truly as sane as the way they carry themselves in public.

If he can pound a couple in at the goalline and early- worth the sign. I doubt he'll make it to the openner. Will be nice to see if he has something left in the tank. It's art the way this guy used to pound the ball.

Funny if New England picked up Johnson we'd be saying he'll be all pro this year. Guy's younger than Ricky was when he came back and did just fine so we shall see.

If anyone could remember the fins were in a goal line stand against the panthers, neither one of our pwr backs could pound it in, esp jumping from the four yrd line, so we have someone that can now. You know as well as the rest of the league he is not going down with a arm tackle like sheets did in the same game. Think about it the rookie can develop the right way, with someone that has been there before.

he won't really see the field at all in my opinion
I'm not too sure of that, This guy even on his last legs is already an improvement to Hilliard and will automatically be our #3 back, and if Thomas doesn't play as good as we hope/expect you just might see him start getting some playing time..

thats what i have been thinking. this guy is an upgrade over lex hilliard.

i have a feeling hilliard might be our back up fb and still be on this team cuz of his special team skills

yeah but has he played fullback before? and is he better than polite. I give u that he plays well on special teams.

I think Miami is looking to put something like what the Saints did with Pierre Thomas, Bush, and McCallister. A RB by committee type of thing. I like this Bush, Johnson, and Thomas combo.

I've been trying to think of an articulate, well thought out way to say that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard......oh wait, I just did.
I hope I'm just missing the humor, but to say that being off the field thugs makes them better ball players is absurd. The top guys in the league are some of the most respected human beings off the field. So you think if Peyton Manning, Dan Marino or Jerry Rice had been slapping women they would have been better at their job?

Amen. He also needs to learn how to block and join the human race.
