A lot more franchise LT where taken in the top ten then in the second round. With only Flozell, Clifton and Matt Light beeing the only franchise type LT taken in the 2nd round. (Khalif Barnes and Marcus McNeil you can also give consideration to) The only true busts in the top ten have been Mike Williams and Robert Gallery.

Also note those franchise tackles played/or are still playing with the team that drafted them. The only time a franchise guy was made available to FA was when they where past their prime or after they were hurt.

Willie Roaf played 9 years with the Saints and then was traded, so not only did the Sains get 9 years out of him but they also got a draft pick after 9 years of service.

my point to this all is Franchise LT if you can find one have a crap load of value to a team.

Agreed. Just don't think there is one in this draft.

well Jake Long appears to be the cream of the crop in this years class of OT and i say we get him and help solidify our O-Line.

I agree about Long. But make sure you tell Florida about the overrated talent in the Big Ten.

Great post!! While this is a deep class, Jake Long would make alot of sense.

Long definitely isn't the franchise tackle in this draft. The boy is overrated, just like the Big 10 competition he faced.

Not to dismiss your brilliant theory, but Joe Thomas who made the Pro Bowl at LT as a rookie played at Wisconsin....;)

The point I'm trying to make is, if you pass on a top ten LT prospect on the first your extremly unlikely to hit on one in the second. even if this is a deep draft.

again, I'm not saying J. Long should be our pick what I'm saying is just keep in mind of the draft history.

I agree with the logic on taking great left tackles high.

He is considered a top five pick by the media. That does not mean he is considered a top five pick by the teams. For instance, I think McFadden is also very overrated by the media.

I just look at his average lateral movement skills, high cut body, and inability to anchor against a good bull rush and I get concerned. He just makes me very nervous.

Well if we go with Jake Long he better produce like the only other number 1 Tackle overall in Orlando Pace.

Hmmm Majpain, wich conference did Pace play in?

If you dont like Long fine, but the conference has nothing to do with it.
