Most realistic options in no particular order, IMO:
1. Re-sign Mike White to backup Skylar - embrace the tank because we wouldn’t win more then 3-4 more games max. Quinn Ewers? Carson Beck? Cam Ward? Sanders? Dart? The LSU kid that I can’t spell his name?
2. Jimmy G - system familiarity, McD knows him well and is a fan. Would give us the best chance to win games before going on IR eventually. It’s inevitable. Is a few games worth him stealing the hearts of all our wives? This mf should be starring in a soap opera or some ****.
3. Tannehill - not the biggest fan of the football player, but I like him too much as a person to want to see him get dismantled behind this OL with his awful pocket awareness. If miraculously given time in the pocket he can succeed with these weapons though. He’s a solid option if we are to establish an effective consistent rushing attack.
4. Joe Flacco - would cost compensation, and a bet that lightning strikes twice for the 39 year old. Also would struggle to repeat last year’s success behind this OL.
5. Josh Dobbs - shouldn’t cost too much and can be serviceable, also mobile enough to potentially survive behind the OL.
Some other somewhat (time of desperation) interesting options:
Russell Wilson - if the Steelers decide to stick with Justin Fields. He was not the problem with the Broncos last season. Still has enough in him if healthy to compete for a trademark wild card spot and first round exit. Would probably cost a mid round pick though. We can’t trade our expected two third rounders until compensatory picks are rewarded, which is pending Robert Hunt snap count total I believe.
Trey Lance - he’s sucked so far, but the talent is there and McD knows of his talents. Never saw it with the kid but he’s more talented than what we have, and he’s a total boom or bust. You’ll either get the breakout player of the year, or more likely, secure a top 5 pick.
Derek Carr - he’s in the final year of his contract and if things get sluggish for the Saints starting in Dallas this week, they could be tempted at some point to see what they have in Rattler.
Then you’ve got some crapshoot options like Tyson Bagent from the Bears. Someone I thought was worth a late round flier in the 2023 draft. He had an impressive camp and preseason.
I did not include Winston as I expect him to soon become Cleveland’s QB1. And given Watson’s injury history, even if he gets it together I think they keep Winston as QB2.
Who else?
