So I was thinking about how good are the chances of some1 joining Miami in Perfectville and then it came to me. That this year could be the last time we ever see what is happening. With the 2011 season most likley being boosted up to 18 games a season a team will need to win 21 games to go perfect.

I guess there is a chance some1 could do it next year but even now 19 games is though. There is a chance that either the Saints or Colts join us and after that I really believe that it will be almost impossible to win 21 NFL games straight. If neither the Colts or Saints make it we could be forevor known as the only undefeated team in football.

hmmm, i have heard and seen the speculation on a 18 game season but i have not seen any proof of a guarantee

It can easily happen if they make the preseason into 2 games instead of 4. 4 preseason games are brutal. Most nfl fans want the season to start during the 2nd quarter of the 1st preseason game anyways. Bring on the 2 game pre-season and the 18 game regular season anytime.

the longest season i have heard of that is getting serious consideration is 17 games... a 17 game season could make tibreakers a little easier to figure... the player's union is opposed to a longer season, so i think 17 could be all the owners could get... personell decisions are hard to make with 4 preseason games, i cant imagine the stress on a coaching staff if the preseason is shortened to 2 games... how do you get an accurate evaluation of all your talent if real games start after 1 preseason game for evaluation and one to warm up starters?

I've made this point in several threads recently. Goodell is determined to lengthen the season, which changes the math. Every time I see someone post, "A team will go unbeaten eventually, so who cares if it's this season?," I have to shake my head and wonder how they fit all the rocks in theirs.

This record can withstand centuries if we survive 2009.

No one thought a team could get through 16 games unbeaten and NE did it w/ 2 more that have a chance this year. Some day it will happen again whether they play 16 or 20 reg season games.

People are winning more and more games right now. The bottom 5 or 6 teams of the league are ****ing horrible. Someone is going to do it soon enough, perhaps even this season.

Thing is I dont see either of these 2 teams this year being better than some of the teams Ive seen over the last few decades. IMHO there were better teams that lost as many as 4 games in the 80s and 90s. This leads me to believe someone will go undefeated eventually if this trend keeps up. Teams are making serious runs at it lately.

These teams can't touch great teams of the past 20 years like the 80s Niners, the 90s Cowboys or even the 00s Pats. These teams are very good but not historically great even though they may go unbeaten(though i don't think either will).

The biggest thing im trying to say is if its 17 or 18 regular season games I can see it happen again and most likley will happen this year. However It is the playoff games that make it more challanging. It has not happened yet and it a schedule boost does happen it will get harder beacuse the season length is up injury chances go up and fatigue could kick in.

Yes it could happen at some point but I think this is the best chance that any team will have beacuse Goddell is going to boost the schedule.
