I know some of you might think this to be a STUPID thread and most of the Slippery Soap haters have allready gone over to the DARKSIDE where the EVIL-DOERS wring their hands while they wait for the call from Harvey Greene to legitimize their evil regime.

When was the last time that the guy most of us wanted actually got selected with the No.1 pick?

Was it?

Ronnie Brown :err:

Vernon Carey :sidelol:

Todd Wade? :rolleyes2:

JJ Johnson? :boohoo:

John Avery? :lol:

Yatil Green? :err:

Thats only going back to 1996. Who would have guessed?

Billy Milner? John Bosa?

and the ultimate who would have ever known????

C'mon guys what is probably going to happen on draft day is that the Dolphins will pick somebody who we never even talked about.

Matt Ryan, Chris Long, Jake Long, Darren Mcfadden and Glen Dorsey what if none of these guys is the pick.

I actually had those two coming to miami, so who knows we may take Vernon Gholston and I'll be right 3 out of the last 4 tries. But, in reality the only ones that know what will are Parcells, Ireland, and Sparano.

Like watching a train wreck lol. I seriiously dont remember any fans pegging Eric Kumerow as thier pick. Really wanted Randell McDaniell with that pick but hell who needed a 12 time pro bowler as our guard lol. This is another reason I laugh when people criticize others opinions on the board, drafting is not exact science
 
To be honest I have never been able to predict one first round pick correctly. Dating back to 1983 I had no idea who Dan Marino was and I dont remember anyone from finheaven bulitein board getting that one right either.

Most of the threads back then were for Vernon Maxell LB to beef up the defense he was going to be the next Lawerence Taylor. There were alot of threads saying that 2 seasons of David Woodley were not enough to see if he was going to be a great QB. After all he did go to the SuperBowl. Picking a QB was a waste there were other needs on defense and Woodley did not have enough weapons at reciever. Nat Moore and Jimmy Cefalo were below NFL Standards. BLAH BLAH BLAH

Damn Finheaven was even around back then lol. Hell I did not know anybody with interent then.

i actually wanted Marino although i knew much less about players than I know now. Realistically I thought we would take Ken O brien or Leonard mARSHALL. in the second I wanted Albert Lewis CB. I really liked wr named JoJo Townsell from UCLA in the third but he never was much.

On the other hand , I have been right on a few occasions. Here's hoping it happens again (with my Jake Long #1 pick), because I've seen your projections and they leave alot to be desired.

In all seriousness I wanted Ronnie Brown with the 2nd pick. Not picking at the top leaves for alot of guess work to do and a wider range of possible selections. The pick this year will be Ryan/Long/Long/Gholston/Dorsey/or McFadden. Really no way around it being one of those 6 guys. If you pick in the middle of the round(which we usually did), there are alot more possibilities. I cant wait till draft day.
 
Todd Wade definitely. He was projected as a possible late first rounder, we always need OL, so yes, I was shouting at the computer when we made the pick and for once Wade was picked (in round 2). He was OK I thought. I remember a report on his first practise...the DE he played against (Mixon?) shook his hand and told the press that this guy was a solid pick.
 
The rest... well I guess you summed it up about right, although I was excited when we took Yatil Green. None of us knew he would tear up his ACL in first practise at TC. He should have held out for more money!
 
Ronnie definatly was a the pick since we needed a RB, and he was the perfect fit for Linehan's offense.

I believe at the time everybody said we would be crazy to pass on Todd Wade, and we didn't. He actually started off as a very good looking RT, but then his ego got the best of him.

As for Vernon Carey, it was the worst kept secret ever that we wanted Shawn Andrews so the Iggles traded ahead of us. After they got in front of us, I think most wanted either Vince Wilfork or Chris Snee.
 
i wanted crowder ...but now wish we would have taken someone else

last year i thought we would pick levi brown, but he went to quick. i wanted quinn if there, if not reggie nelson and sidney rice if there, if not dewayne jarrett though.

06 i thought we would pick manny lawson and i wanted manny lawson.

05 i thought we would pick cedric benson and i wanted cedirc benson. :foundout:
