How many here remember our last visit to Cleveland?
I think it was 93,when Marino tore his Achilles.
That was one of the worst feelings as a Fin fan I have
ever had.

Never forget it... Still won the game though! Best record in the league that year after the thanksgiving day snow game in dallas that leon lett gave us... 9-2... Only to drop our last 5 in a row to finish at 9-7 and miss the playoffs. One of the many swoons I can remember.

Yea that sucked...who came in for him Mitchell, Deberg?

Mitchell... DeBerg came on later that season.

I was watching that game the other day and it popped in my head that coach Shula beat five very good teams that year with three different QB's.

Shula used Marino to beat the Colts, AT Buffalo and the Redskins
Mitchell beat the Browns, the Colts, the Chiefs and got hurt in the game with Philadelphia
Deberg came in and beat Dallas

Not sure which QB beat the Patriots the first time, but wins against the Bills, Redskins, Browns, Chiefs, and the Cowboys were pretty good wins

Our last win was at Dallas and it was their last lost that year as they went on and won the Superbowl.

I was There!!!!!! I had no idea the extent of the injury until I saw Dan come out on crutches, with a huge boot over his foot and ankle.

Then Mitchell comes in, and promptly throws a pick returned for a TD 97 yards. But ... he plays a monster second half and leads them to a nice win.

It was the weirdest feeling after that game. We played well, got a big win, our backup QB seemed like the real deal (AT THE TIME!!!) - but Dan was hurt and, as I heard on radio reports after the game, out for the season. A dark day indeed.

Remember all too well JB Brown saying after that game "we might not lose another game all season".

I was there and was pretty young at the time. All I remember is all the Browns fans barking and cheering when Marino went down. I'll be there again this weekend. Lets hope the end result is the same, but no injuries!

The saddest part about that season - believe it or not - was not Dan getting hurt, but our DBs dropping like flies after the Cowboy game. By the time they played NE to end the season against rookie Bledsoe (I was there too!), they had signed guys off the street to play DB. That hurt us the most and led to the five straight losses to end the season more than anything.

It's too bad, because if we stayed healthy as a team that year, it could have been special.

That game against Philly was the one that gave Shula his 325th to make him the all time winningest coach in the NFL.

Wasn't it Doug Pederson who came in in relief of Mitchell in that game?

yes

Was it a 'Belichick/Saban' Browns team?

Man, that was quite the shock. I remember my utter disgust when I saw the result of what happened... :(

Doug Pederson came in and managed the offense. I just can't remember who started the following week against the Patriots???, The week after that it was Deberg against the Cowboys. I also remember the Cowboy fans back in Kansas making the comments that the reason the "Boys" lost was because the "Boys" weren't used to playing in the snow.........so Miami is? I laughed by butt off at that comment.
