Despite the fact that we hardly gave up many sacks last year the o-line wasnt that good. It was due to Gus Frerotte and his ability to get rid of the ball. There was a reason his Com % was 52. He was forced to get rid of the ball so much, so quickly and his vet. experience masked the fact that the o-line wasnt very good last year either.

So the biggest problem with the O-line hasnt been lack of work ethic or technique, they are all career backups starting thats the problem. Shelton is the only one with talent but has no motivation. Look at even the Jets, they have two rookies on the line and because of their physical talent, it masks their lack of experience.

The other thing too is Ronnie breaks 2 tackles every play and gains 3 yards. That doesnt add up. It happened alot lasty ear as well but Ricky, was so good that he could make lines look decent and Ronnie has so much talent that he can gain yardage without much blocking.

I said it last year, idk when exactly but the o-line sucked last year and there was no major player changes aside from Shelton who is an unmotivated, player that doesnt have the work ethic to play with this team.

The line i worse this year, but it was not that good last year. Frerotte is back to doing what he does best, sitting on the pine.

I tip my hat to Frerotte's pocket presence, but the reason his completion percentage was so low wasn't due to the o-line, but his own inaccuracy. He actually made a lot of good decisions at QB and was aggresive. Daunte has been anything but, and coming from the same place as Gus thats surprising.

The O-line is it's usual pastry self, allowing the defence straight through to the filling inside!

That would be a very convenient way of looking at it for people who want to defend Saban's boneheaded line tinkering, but it's far from the truth. Gus' completion percentage was pretty close (52.0 to 54.1) to his career average, and especially his average as a frequent starter (53%). So no, it wasn't Gus doing anything other than normal. Gus was not sacked any more than he normally was. In fact, I checked last year and Frerotte was not sacked any more or less than any other quarterback on his team.

There is also the fact that Sage was not sacked once last season while his completion percentage was 3.7% higher than Frerotte's.

Make no mistake, there is a difference between the average quarterback (who knows how to get rid of the ball) and the "holder-oner" like Culpepper who does not. However, the truth remains that last year's offensive line was very good and was significantly better than this year's.

You know what sucks? We are the laughing stock of the leauge after we had apprerently turned the corner and became a contender. The way the team is playing the only thing we are contending for is the 1st pick in the draft.

Truly... Im starting to not like having high hold out underachieving draft pics... Give me a 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounded with something to prove anyday.

The Oline only sucked the first half of the year....they played well in the second half....maybe that will happen again this year...problem is we'll need more than two or three wins when it does!

the problem is, we r in a hole now. 3 wins in a row would put us at 4-3, which still aint that good.
