READ THIS ONLY IF YOU REALLY WANT TO. VERY DETAILED VERY CHOPPY.

ST: Decent Welker KR.

Offense
3 and out
Carey two solid pass protections
Carey failed in run blocking pulling out to left.
Chambers should have adjusted to underthrow, good throw and decision, not like Chambers.
McDougle false start first play of game
McDougle on 3rd double teams stunter-in, doesn't catch stunter-out til too late, early dump to Ricky.

ST: Great high speed tackle Sammy Morris on PR Colclough.

Defense
3-4 look first down, JT misses Bettis, gains 2-3.
4-3 look second down, FB handoff inside 2-3 up gut.
4-3 look third short, short out to Ward, Daniels makes great play forcing Ward out before he could cross sticks.

ST: Beautiful LONG punt return Welker.

Offense
Rollout right fake handoff left, pass to R-Mac, fumble.

Defense
3-4 look first, run LG, created crease on interior DL (Zgonina in game).
3-4 look second, safety blitz picked up, Randle-El on Madison, catch first down
3-4 look first, safety blitz, safety & Carter get in on QB, dump screen, picked up by Traylor & Seau. Good D
4-2 nickel second, Madison drawn in from left by WR, JT stunts inside, Zach commits middle caught in traffic, Willie Parker runs left around for 60+ yard gain caught by Tebucky
Goal D first, run up middle nowhere.
Goal D second, Thomas blitz in Holliday get in too, QB pressure escape left, could have run, fired ball open WR, little high, WR can't hang on.
4-3, JT gets in drapes around QB, still gets ball off toward RB who can't hang on diving catch attempt.
Missed FG.

ST: Touchback

Offense
Quick hitch Booker complete 5 yd. No protect fails. NOTE! Carey head on swivel even when actively engaged.
Quick pass left Chambers, dodge tackle run for 8 yd.
Run trap, McDougle poor to mediocre, LoDiamond allow LB to dictate position
Pass, OL block left, McD take DT, R-Mac on down linemen DE Haggans, Haggans blows by for sack. Carey good blocking
Great third down pass to Booker on deep out, right through his hands. Good protect. Pancake for McD

ST: Punt, short kick, bounce, Townshend tries field off bounce, fumbles, Crowder and Pope there for pressure, Miami recover

Offense
House blitz lot of stunting, picked up Gus tosses high and long fade Booker, ball floats OOB.
Run round right side favorable D Ricky 8 yd. Welker good cut block on backside.
House blitz all of front seven 3rd & 2. McD misses pickup of Farrior, Gus should have rec'd D no time to throw but should have tucked ball, fumble return for TD.

ST: Uninspired KR.

Offense
Rush many, good protection especially pickup of OLB by Evans, throw to Ricky leak to middle, ball tipped at LOS.
Rollout right, fake handoff left, pass deeper to R-Mac good strike but behind him, DROP.
Carey shoulders guy but leaves to pickup blitzer, Evans stops guy but gets near QB, Gus throws early high deep Chambers left side, never looked off safety, safety try intercept but OOB.

ST: Punt goes OOB...good deep tho

Defense
Stunt 4-3 rush, QB toss high over TE head, Reggie Howard breaks off man goes for ball and makes GREAT diving catch of it. Awesome react on ball.

Offense
Run, Carey release out, interior no push, FB block of OLB not great, nowhere.
Carey rides player inside on pass pro but gets near QB, FAIL for him deep pass attempt to man2man Booker-Townshend, Booker great position on jump ball, jump, couldn't haul in...overall great read just couldn't haul it in.
Again Carey rides inside, guy manages to get a little too close to QB but not as bad as last time, Gus throw to R-Mac, another drop.

ST: Good punt coverage high speed chip, Crowder finishes job after 6 yd gain.

Defense
4-3, Carter good penetration Parker slips by 4 yd.
4-3, Seau blitz picked up by Kreider, good pass out coverage Bell complete
4-3, got inside, Parker slips tack goes right, outruns everyone for big gain caught by Bell & Tebucky
3-4, safety green-dog, JT blitz in gets in, Spragan gets in, Tebucky gets in, short pass to RB picked up by Zach.
3-4, run dominated DL but holliday dives for saving tackle.
4-3, huge pop on inside draw run play by Seau. SAY IT!

ST: Heads up play Welker, no call fair catch so that he could block flyer into endzone before he could down ball on 2 yd line, flyer already in end zone when he bats ball out of EZ (idiot). Touchback. A+ Welker.

Offense
Piss poor pass at Ricky's feet in moving pocket. Good lord Gus what was that.
Pass to R-Mac again for good yardage, R-Mac can't hang on. WTF man. Worst than Donald Lee at this point. Bailed out by offsides penalty
Run right, no room whatsoever. No push.
Deep pass down sideline to Chambers makes beautiful gazelle leap catch, may have actually gotten both feet just barely down but called OOB, no challenge.

ST: Good tackle by Pope

Defense
4-3 look, fantastic penetration by Holliday who blows this up behind LOS, Parker breaks free, but Crowder penetrates and smash tackles to finish job.
3-4 look, dump pass to Parker off right side, just blazes by everyone fast fast fast long gain. Matt Roth got dominated in pass rush.
Run, nowhere, good middle clog.
House blitz, QB escapes up middle tackled small gain.
4-3 look, Bell good coverage on Randle-El, Roth no action on passrush.

ST: Bua holding, then rekick (offset pen), then Madison holds. (shakes head in disgust).

Offense
Run inside right, nowhere to go. Wad ball. All night none of creative running saw against Jax.
Short catch to R-Mac on out, actually hauled it in
False start on shotgun, Rex Hadnot.
Wes Welker HUGE catch over middle beat CB and Polamalu on play. Wonderful concentration in semi-traffic space. Great throw too.
Great looking off of options by Frerotte, good pass pro, got something going as pass out hitch to open Booker who runs for first.
Neither Carey nor R-Mac properly get their man in pass pro, pressure on Frerotte.
Fumbled snap. That was a quick loss of momentum. Took two plays.

Defense
4-3 look, Roth in now. Again good pressure Holliday, his best game so far. QB scrambles out left gains yards.
3-4 look, QB pressure throws inaccurate out wide left Randle-El
3-4 look, good play by Zgon at NT, RB got past LBs hit hard, Tebucky tomahawks ball fumble Miami gets ball

Offense (SECOND TEAMS IN)
Nice big hole up middle, Sammy Morris good steam runs straight up for good 8 yd.
Good protect on left side, short pass to Thompson fights for extra for 9 yd.
False start John St. Clair
Short pitch Diamond, good feet jukes for extra yards and barely gets 1st.
Run up middle NO ROOM, Middleton pulls uninspired.
Good pass read Feeley on safety blitz, Morris takes it right but fumbles.

Defense
Batch in, good pass out to Mays, not much rush.
Run, Pope good contact at LOS stays in position first contact.
Batch under pressure runs out right, tosses little low dropped.
House blitz, Channing good timing right up slight delay, DROPPED THE QB

ST: Bryant McFadden drives Reggie Howard right into Wes Welker as he tries to fair catch, fumble, Pitt gets it. Howard gets the goat.

Rest of half just about done, second teamers in....done reviewing for now.

Great job man, very in depth and informative. thanks a lot.

Good review. I don't know why Nick didn't challenge the Chambers catch, it looked like he got two feet in bounds, that play would have changed a lot. I think Carey has been doing "good" for being a first time LT in the NFL, he's only played 3 preseason games. Nice to see someone else breaks down game tape like I do, except you had the patience to type it out, thanks man, I think you did a good job.

good details...but I'm confused as to what play happened when. Its totally confusing in that respect.

It goes in order. I didn't number it. Whenever you see "first" or "second" or "third" it probably refers to the play being first, second, or third down. Just read from top to bottom and you have every play.

These are only really my own notes for my own reference for the purpose of writing articles. I posted them in the VIP lounge in case anyone actually wanted to read them and I got a pretty good response so I figured I'd post them in the main forum so that I'm not depriving anyone. If it isn't formatted in an easy to follow way, it's because it's not really suppose to be cuz my notes are just tools for a different end product, not the end product itself.

Not hard to understand at all. I like the idea of all the different looks our defense is using. We got burned a few times, but that may be attributed to our players learning a new system, and our coaches learning about our players limitations. Hopefully, things will get cleaned up soon, and we will show a little more consistency. I'm still scratching my head about our offense. Maybe tomorrow night things will look a little better.

Steve

No, there's nothing Welker does not do very well. Especially this game, he did everything he was asked to do. He's like our version of Steve Tasker.

I'd still rather have Peter Warrick on returns then Welker, I am sorry, just more potential.

So Welker would be your second choice then?
