as it stands right now with the projected top 5 rb's ray rice nor steve slaton are not in the top five what do you guys think about maybe picking one of these two in the fourth round,

I live 15 minutes away from rutgers university and got to see rice play plenty of times and he has some intangibles that transfer over to the nfl,
first off he has 1. great vision (imo best in the draft) 2. he has a second gear very patient runner lets blocks develop and has a 2nd gear burst of speed(fantastic on sceens). 3. he keeps driving his legs after getting hit. 4. small gets lost behind the line
5 good hands and proficent at pass blocking.

Steve slaton did nto get to watch him as much but what i have noticed
although he ran behind a great full back and there was a dual threat with pat white. 1 has a nose for the endzone 2 very very quick. 3 great balance.
slaton has droped very far after a less then steve slaton like year this past season could be a steal

just throwing this out there two guys that could be great.

I think both of those 2 could be good backs for whomever gets them, and will be steals. i do think they're both 3rd to 4th rd backs though.

Rice is projected for the middle of the 2nd round...I am not sure about Slaton but he will definitely be gone before the 4th. I like Rice a lot and think he would be a nice pick with our 2nd round two pick, but we also have a lot of other needs besides the RB position.

We don't have any roster spots available for RB's

Ronnie Brown
Lorenzo Booker
Ricky Williams
Reagan Mauia

Anybody else would have to be a practice squad or not be activated on game days.

I would LOVE to get Steve Slaton. He was a stud as a Soph. and dropped off a little this year, but was still very good. If he went back for his Senior year, he'd be a top 15 pick in 2009, easy.

As it stands, I've seen him projected to go in the late 2nd/ early 3rd round.

He's fast, tough, and has fantastic hands. Great out of the backfield or as a special teams guy. Plus, Ricky is a huge question mark, and if Ronnie can't come back at 100% right away, I'd like to have some insurance... and if he's a stud like Bush or AP, we can shop him next year if Ronnie comes back and dominates.

While I'm sure he'll be gone, If he somehow falls to the 4th, I say we take him... look what AP did for Minn! Spending the #1 pick in the 3rd is probably too high... but if we get a mid-late round 3rd via trade and he's on the board, we gotta pull the trigger.

we should definitely not waste our RB position on Ronnie Brown, Lorenzo Booker, Ricky Williams, or Reagan Mauia when we can get these 2 guys in the later rounds when we could be picking up depth at key positions since RB is the only place we truly have depth. Lets draft more RBs.

Only way we will get another RB is if Williams gets' traded for a 6th or 7th rounder. As unlikely as that is, if it was to happen I would say we would pick up a FA than draft one.
