A six-pack of Dolphins notes on a Monday:

▪ Why does Ryan Tannehill have a good chance to come out of the box strong this season, presuming his surgically repaired left knee holds up?

Based on last year’s stats, no quarterback arguably will face a worse collection of pass defenses over the first three months of the season than the Dolphins.

All that and more from the latest Florida Sports Buzz...

I hate those these teams last season had the worst pass defense and best run defense so therefore.....

How often does that stuff hold up? Especially, historically against the Dolphins.

Really intriguing info there!

I love that we finally here something about Harris, I really hope the switch flips for him this season. I'm very optimistic for this season, more-so than any for a long time.

Thanks for posting.

I'm intrigued to see if Charles Harris really has gotten stronger and worked on his acceleration, those two things would help his game out a lot.

ahhhh OTAs though. Won't it be so nice hearing Tannehill's name back throwing again in those tweets?!

We see, year after year, that the rankings from one year has little impact the following year. It's the NFL. Every year we see a number of teams exceed (or fall short of) expectations.

That's why strength of schedule means little to nothing.

true but what else do we have to go on outside of individually analyzing each teams changing defense and speculating it's ability...

unfortunately off-season provides articles that projects last years performances into next year's expectations. beyond local beat/buzz talk there really is nothing noteworthy when it comes to trying to give full-scale NFL style reports

Exactly. Last year the rams and jags were considered pushovers before the year started. How wrong that was.

Teams tend to improve their week areas the following year. Take us for example our run defense improved last year however our pass defense is now one of the worse. Cue the additions of Minkah and Baker and our pass defense against tightends and running backs should improve.

I agree, but with tweaks. It is reasonable to predict NE, PITT, and a handful of others will do well and, well, 'some' teams to do poorly. Those middle teams are hard to predict. Interestingly, all these predictions are based on projected starters WITHOUT regard to injuries. On here, if fans predict a record without injuries, they are accused of being homers.
SOS means something or else it would not be in the playoff formula. HOW MUCH it matters is open to discussion.

I think that Jets pass defense is gonna be pretty good. So we'll see.

^ me too but the Jets are really good at one thing and that's shiting the bed. They may have worse luck than we do. As the saying goes, they could screw up a ___ dream.

Those same teams with poor pass defense are probably also thinking the same thing about Miami’s defense as well this year.
I take those comments with a grain of salt. It’s a different year with different player and coaches.

Playoff formula is from the same season though, not last season before tons of changes
