For all you draftniks, the excellent GBN just updated its 2006 first round projection. Some changes from about a month ago. Most notably Reggie Bush has risen to number 1 (in part because SF will not go QB). Ahmad Brooks is another guy who's shot up the draft ranks, projected to now go number 5.
Andrew Whithworth, the LT out of LSU, has fallen to number 24.
Interesting to see Mathias Kiwanuka, out of BC going to Miami at 11. Kiwanuka almost declared last year but chose to stay another year. I asked Boomer about him and he seemed to think he was a quality player.

Personally, I've always been an advocate of trading down (based on GBN's last projection I suggested we trade down and pick up a combo of Max Jean Gilles and Jimmy Williams) but I wouldn't mind Kiwanuka falling to us.

does Kiwanuka weigh more than 275? Otherwise, he wont be in Miami. Saban like the heavier ends like BB, and Mattius isnt going to play LB....

trading down also requires a dance partner, which as evidenced by this year does not come easy

Winston going ahead of The Brick?

I dont see us drafting a de, unless we trade JT in which I dont see that happening. I would HATE that pick. Im wanting QB all the way.

Agreed. The interesting thing is from what I've read Kiwanuka projects to be a younger and poor man's version of Jason Taylor. He's got the lanky frame, freakish athletic ability and needs to hit the weight room. Obviously he's been a projected top 10 pick for over a year now whereas JT was a 3rd rounder but this would be a logic move only if we were to replace/trade JT.

In that situation with no trades you have to take McNeil from Auburn.

If Ferguson or McNeil somehow slip to us, no doubt about it, we must take him. We dont need urgent help at DE.

if we keep on playing like we did the last 2 weeks then we'll be able to draft anyone we want.We need an o-line and a QB too.

Ozzy rules!!

I don't see us taking a DE before all those blue chip 0-linemen....Or a CB for that matter.

i'd love for the jets to get jacobs. there's 2 wins for us each year (until he's cut of course)

I think I seen that Mel Kiper Jr. ranked him as the 25th best sr prospect. If the team does not go Qb in the 1st rd, I think LB is the next choice, either Hawk/Brooks/Greenway should be available when the team picks.
