So fans that post on here know nothing, sports media know nothing and NFL analysts opinions are invalid but Vegas oddsmakers' opinions ARE valid enough to cite as good sources on Phinheaven.
exactly, fans who post here know NOTHING about what's going to happen when the season is played out....If you do, by all means, place your bets now. You should be rich by this time next year.

And yes, media outlets know NOTHING about how the season is going to play out.

And Yes, the oddsmakers are valid, it's their job to be as accurate as possible given that they'll lose money if they are not.

Any media or fans going to lose money if they're wrong?

I NEVER bet on the Phins. If they lose, I not only lose the money that I bet, but have to pay for a new TV, and new whatever I threw at the TV, because I am twice as pissed off.

Though I guess the opposite is true too. I was in Louisiana this year during the national championship, watching the game with a bunch of LSU fans who were betting thousands. It was absolutely insane. I had an escape route already planned in case of a loss. I have never seen celebration like that after a game (wasn't alive the last time my Phins won it...). Nevertheless, I still won't bet on them.

Just a little insight into the mentality of this board.
Do with it as you chose.
I simply find it funny that you have been one of the many citing fans, media and NFL analysts as sources whose opinions are not to be trusted because they have little knowledge of what is really going on..... then only to see you cite oddsmakers in Vegas as valid sources to justify an opinion.

Vegas oddsmakers have no more insight or have access to anymore information than media or NFL analysts. I would bet they have less access.
A percentage of the odds take into effect what betters (fans) are placing their bets on and hence the odds are a derivitive of what us "know nothing" fans think. The other variables on setting these odds are best guesses that are no better than the guesses any of us who follow football can come up with.

Look up the odds last year for the Carolina Panthers winning the NFC and tell me if oddsmakers know anymore than we do.

They're guesses are better...their business depends on it and if they're using bettors to more accurately determine their odds, then that's another sign that most fans don't believe the doom and gloom scenarios thrown out right and left by the vocal minority. This is a good sign.

I don't need to look up the odds for Carolina, I can tell you that the oddsmakers are not infallible.

Could they be wrong? absolutely. Do I believe that they have a better chance of being right than you or I, yes I do, absolutely.

Are you sure it's not 500,000-1.....I've been reading a lot of posts on this board and 11-1 odds of making the SB doesn't jibe with the "comlete turmoil" that is the Miami Dolphins offseason?

Is it possible that Vegas understands that the players don't give a rats' a$$ what happens in the offseason?

Maybe they understand that when the season starts it's going to come down to who has the most talent, not who had the most smooth offseason?

Nahhh, Vegas must be wrong....Obviously they don't read FinHeaven.

The opinions of the oddsmakers in Las Vegas mean absolutely nothing to me. Hell, they've had the Dolphins as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl in the last five years.

I don't believe this organization is in "complete turmoil", but it's wrought with incompetence and poor communication. That starts at the top. We won't go 2-14 as some of the doom harbingers say. Just don't expect more than 9-7 or 10-6. We're really lucky to get that far with Jay Fiedler and Dave Wannstedt.

Again, more odds and predictions in May. NE wasnt ranked high when they won super bowls, neither was Carolina, the NY Giants, and the Ravens when they went to their super bowls. bah! :yell:

Oh btw...is there somewhere I can view those futures lines that isn't a gambling site?

Could anyone post the current futures super bowl odds for the teams, not just the Phins?

I could not find a non-gambling line on future bets..
