Here is my up to the minute latest round 1 mock draft, feel free to add your comments or suggestions:
1. Miami - Chris Long DE
I still think Parcells goes defense at the top as he loves having solid defenses, plus the draft has a number of good OT's which they need desperately but they address that at the top of round 2.
2. St. Louis - Jake Long OL
They need a big man up front to help protect Bulger and block for Jackson.
3. Atlanta - Matt Ryan QB
Now that they signed Michael Turner to a big deal the franchise QB is next.
4. Oakland - Darren McFadden RB
I think Rhodes and Jordan will be out, and the 2 headed monster of Fargas and McFadden will be in. Davis loves his explosive players and they need some help for the development of Russell.
5. Kansas City - Sedrick Ellis DT
Since most o-lineman at this point will be a reach they need to sure up their run defense and with concerns of Dorsey's knee they take the safer pick.
6. New York – Vernon Gholston DE
With the transfer to the 3-4 completely underway, the Jets need LB's and so they take the versitle Gholston here to ensure division rival NE doesnt get their hands on him and to fill the void left by trading Vilma away.
7. New England - Leodis McKelvin CB
I think they actually trade out of this spot for an extra pick or two, but if not they definitely need to fill the void of the departures of Samuel and Gay.
8. Baltimore - Ryan Clady OT
With the retirement of Ogden almost definite, they need some help up front to open some holes for Willis and protect whoever they decide to put behind center.
9. Cincinnati - Glenn Dorsey DT
With 2 trades for a DT falling apart for the Bengals this offseason, they get their big man in April.
10. New Orleans - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie S/CB
With the additions of Dan Morgan and Jonathan Vilma, it lets the Saints focus on there next biggest area of need, the secondary.
11. Buffalo - Limas Sweed WR
They need a big #1 receiver up in Buffalo and Limas Sweed is the number one wideout in this years draft.
12. Denver - Keith Rivers LB
With Lynch agreeing to come back they need to focus on complimenting talented young LB D.J. Williams.
13. Carolina - Rashard Mendenhall RB
Since Carolina released former 1st round pick DeShaun Foster, they need another big time running back to go along with DeAngelo Williams to help keep the work load off of Jake Delhomme.
14. Chicago - Brian Brohm QB
Chicago gets their potential QB of the future, and since Grossman and Orton arent getting paid too much he can sit and learn for awhile this season.
15. Detriot - Mike Jenkins CB
Since they traded Dre Bly to the Bronco's last offseason they need someone to help their crummy secondary.
16. Arizona – Kenny Phillips S
To help add to there struggling defense the Cardinals take the safetly that can have the biggest impact on a game.
17. Minnesota – Phillip Merling DE
With major health concerns to 2 of the DE, they need to add depth here to insure a pass rush next season.
18. Houston – Aqib Talib CB
Houston’s number 1 priority this offseason is to find a #1 corner to go along with former 1st round pick Dauna Robinson, especially with the high octane Colts in there division.
19. Philadelphia – Malcolm Kelly WR
Since the departure of TO, the Eagles haven’t had a legitament #1 receiver and they get him here (since the signing of Randy Moss fell through and the trade for Fitzgerald didn’t work either, a WR is obviously there #1 priority).
20. Tampa Bay - DeSean Jackson WR
With an ageing receiving core they need some speed and youth, plus a legitimate return specialist which Tampa has never had in their history.
21. Washington - Jeff Otah OT
Washington's offense revolves around the run game, and to solidify the big men up front they get some help at #21.
22. Dallas – Sam Baker OT
With an aging offensive line and the 3 big receivers off the board at this moment, they take the best young tackle left.
23. Pittsburgh – Branden Albert OG
The Steelers need to replace the departed Pro Bowler Alan Faneca at the guard position and take the best one in the draft to keep there $102 million investment standing up right.
24. Tennessee – Derrick Harvey DE
With the a large amount of D-Lineman gone in free agency they get a young defensive end from UF to go along with there former DE from UF who just returned, Jevon Kearse.
25. Seattle - Kentwan Balmer DT
Seattle has alot of key pieces in place for a championship run, but they need a monster of a man to clug up the middle of the trenches.
26. Jacksonville - Reggie Smith S
With the addition of Drayton Florence to their secondary they continue to get depth here with the 26th pick if they wanna take down the kings of the AFC South (Indy).
27. San Diego - Calais Campbell DE
To sure up there pass rush for next season, AJ Smith drafts another great young talent from the ACC.
28. Dallas - Felix Jones RB
Jerry Jones loves his Arkansas boys and with the departure of Julius Jones in free agency, he replaces him here with the 28th pick.
29. San Fransico – Chris Williams OT
With a lot of key additions this offseason through free agency they add some young depth to there dissappointing offensive line.
30. Green Bay – Antoine Cason CB
The Packers continue to add young talent to an already outstanding defense.
31. New York – Dan Conner LB
They may have won the super bowl last season thanks to there pass rush, but they had some serious injury problems at the linebacker position so they take they best LB available here. (Also lost 2 solid LB’s in FA)
