The talk so far has been, moves guys around, looks for mismatches, moves the pocket, range of screens to slow down rush.....

to me, this seems like the play calling and using players for what they do best is what we (finheaven members) have been screaming for, for well over a decade. Common sense adjustments and a flexible play book and play caller.

i know it's early, but if this keeps up, I believe we can see a paradigm shift in how we view our offense. :hclap:

I dream of 27-30 points consistently...can lazor be the answer?!?

Lazor and our the new offensive line coach are the answers. We have to be able to run the football well consistently in order to be effective within the passing game. Balance kills defenses and keeps defensive coordinators guessing. I like what I'm hearing so far and I'm hoping once the pads get on that we hear of some explosive things happening on the ground also. #phinsup

Is it pronounced Laser or Lah Zor? Thats been bugging the hell out of me.

Up tempo or not; I don't care.

Its the multiple formations and motion plus an OC who will adapt is exactly what the phins need.

I get what your saying but the reason the Patriots win consistently 11+ games every year is they can change up their tempo with all these different formations and movements every so often realizing the kind of team they are up against. In other words, they game plan that way and this may be the very thing they do against us game 1 because of the Miami heat in September. They will seek to wear us down.

I totally get what you are saying finfan54 and you are bang on the money, it isn't simply about up tempo, it isn't simply about mismatches, and it isn't simply about gameplanning for your opponent. The key is putting those three together and Ds round the league are going to struggle. I wouldn't be the most knowledgeable football fan in the world but if you put guys in motion against zone or man coverage you are going to cause either mismatches, confusion or potential for players to clash as they run their routes and are covered, all of what can lead to advantage for the O, it only takes one player out of position on D for the O to take advantage.

Let's face it, gotta keep hiring these coordinators young. After 10 years their philosophies are fossils and they are unwilling to change and roll with the times.

Finfan54 is right.

Lazor can draw up whatever scheme he likes on the training field. He'll he can call whatever plays in the game he likes. But if he isn't taking account of the opposition and adjusting on the fly as what he is given changes, we aren't going far.

Belichick and Payton have slayed teams using fairly mediocre offensive pieces (QB excepted), because they are masters of exploitation.

Lazor has never called an NFL game in his life. The challenge of doing that is far greater than the challenge of installing his new offense in training.

Obviously it's very early, but thus far Lazor seems to me to be a breath of fresh air. Sherman's offense was stale, dated and predictable. This seems like a step in the right direction.Hopefully Lazor will be an innovator and make a name for himself here. One advantage we have right now is that no one has seen what we do on offense. Go Fins.
