READY TO PLAY
Kelvin Smith, Linebacker, Miami: Keith Bulluck is his uncle. Former Eagles linebacker Seth Joyner is his godfather. Now that he's on the Dolphins, Zach Thomas will be his mentor. Smith may have the greatest support system of any linebacker in history. No wonder he's so fundamentally sound. Smith isn't a great athlete, but he was a four-year starter at Syracuse, where he racked up 115 tackles as a senior and showed that he's a sure tackler in space and an instinctive defender in coverage. The Dolphins won't need him right away, but he could immediately fill a role in the pros as a Sam linebacker.

he was the best value pick of the draft, he is a real steal

he is a monster in the run stopping game so I imagine in running situations he will be in there in place of Porter
