Is LB one of the top priorities? Seems like a few posters seem to think so. Here's the current depth chart heading into the offseason:

OE: J.T. - D.Bo
WLB: Crowder - Pope - Moore
MLB: Zach - Glenn
OLB: Jr. - Spragan

If Jr. is gone as expected, it seems the only real priority, i.e. first day pick or quality FA, is competition/depth for Spragan. But, IMO, his position is merely a 'role player' position in Saban's D. I could be wrong, but isn't he taken out whenever a nickle/dime package is used a la Greenwood? That said, I also think he plays his role just fine. Consider other current needs and the possibility of other positions needing help due to trades, cuts, etc.

Any other opinions on the LB core and level of offseason priority there???

We don't need one but we should take one on Day 2

I'd second that. With the depth at LB in this draft, someone decent could fall to mid-4th. A safe bet for depth, possible competition for Spragan.

Forgive my apparent ignorance, but there is a LB from UTEP that is just a monster--been watching the Senior Bowl Practices. He's fleet of foot, can't say much about hitting because ther hasn't been any. Love to see him in a Phins uni!

For the last time JUNIOR SEAU IS STAYING. He said it himself. I don't know how it is 'expected' that he'll leave when he says he's staying.

We need YOUTH in our defense, it's time to say goodbye to Junior.

Can you give us a link? The last thing I read was when he said he expected to play for someone else next year.

I think its almost a need but not quite yet. I think we will add one in draft and maybe pick up a FA. I think Saban will address this position so it won't become a NEED any time soon.

They could use another stud young linebacker to pair with Crowder for the future.

Agreed we need to get younger at this position. Something that needs to be addressed if someone drops that is of value to us but we aren't hurting if that doesn't happen. Seau is basically done and a far cry from his early playing days, Zach won't be around forever and Crowder is the future and he needs another young stud to balance the LB's out. If we go 3-4 than we really do need one more LB to add to the current depth.

I do agree that Capers influence prolly increases the importance of depth. Btw, I'd also like to see Jr. stay another yr. - at a reasonable price. It would be a great starting line-up (if all stay healthy) with decent depth. A late draft pick hit could be a boon.

If Cutler and Huff are gone (likely) and Greenway is still on the board (not likely) he'll be our pick...book it.

Saban does'nt draft for need....he drafts B.P.A.

Here, here! It is about time our franchise takes the baddest M.F. on the face of the earth for that 10 minutes that we get.

QB, OL, LB, DB, WR.. No idea. No one does. But I know that Saban is the answer, best F.A. pick up of the 2005 season.

We do need LB's...Even if Seau was coming back which I doubt, he's older and keep on getting hurt so you can't count on him...Zack who is my favotite player is also getting older and has been hurt and missed games the last 2 years so him being smaller is starting to take its toll....Pope is not gonna start....Moore can't stay healthy....I like Spragan but we need to draft a LB or get one in free agency.

Ozzy rules!!
