Le Batard: dolphins sysfunctional have become lions, bengals, 49ers

The truth hurts. He may not know sports as well as other people but u don't have to know sports to look at what has gone on here the past 15 years and see there is a problem.

I think there's a team more dysfunctional than our beloved fins are ATM, and that's the Colts........they're going to be bottom dwellers for yrs to come if they lose Manning, Wayne, and Saturday. And I couldn't be happier screw the Colts, I feel sorry for Luck, hopefully he pulls an Eli/Elway.

I guess I just don't see the huge dysfunction here. If we had a good quarterback, there would be no dysfunction, no issues, etc. I guarantee you that if we draft a stud QB or sign Peyton Manning and he plays well and stays healthy, all of this talk disappears pretty fast.

Look at Denver when they were losing earlier in the year. It was a huge fiasco. People even accused Elway and Fox of putting Tebow in (and trading Lloyd) so that they could tank for Luck and then be able to get rid of Tebow. They started winning games and then suddenly they're all a bunch of geniuses?

I look at the Fins quite differently. The team continued to fight and play hard, even after going 0-7. That is huge considering how many teams quit on their coaching staff. The FO is doing a thorough search for it's new HC. What is so dysfuntional. You didn't hear any unnamed players bashing each other (the Jets) or bashing the coaching staff as in years past (Ricky Williams). LeBetard just wanted to say something entertaining on Cowturd's show.

How long did we have Marino after Shula left? What did jimmy do after every loss? Did the Stauche have a clue? What did saban do? How did cam do? How about parcels and how he snuck out one night and left his friends in charge? When was the last time we won a playoff game? When was the last time we went to the afc championship game or god forbid the superbowl?

Yeah totally agree, we are totally not bottom of the barrel because we beat some great teams this year and our owner was used to get a bigger pay check again this year. Totally agree everything is fine.

Plenty of teams have been unsuccessful over the last few years, is every unsuccessful team dysfunctional? We were considered one of the best, most consistent teams in the AFC under Wannstedt until the wheels fell off in that last year. And then under Saban we were hardly a laughingstock -- until he quit. Three straight losing seasons sucks, but we have a long way to go before we even begin to approach the long term dysfunction of teams like the Bengals and Cardinals. And right now, I think the Jets are a much more messed up organization than the Dolphins. Between the Brett Favre bit, Rex Ryan, and the players all sniping at each other through the press, that strikes me as being a much more screwed up organization than Miami.

I really don't even consider myself an optimist, but the moment we hit on a franchise QB this talk is all just chaff in the wind.

How the hell can you argue this? We suck because we've been a terribly run organization that's made some of the worst personnel decisions in the history of sports of the last 5-10 years.

The Dolphins are looked at as dysfunctional because they didn't land Fisher, who everyone said from the beginning was always going to the Rams, especially with the son of Fisher's agent running the team. It was a done deal in most people's eyes that Fisher was going to the Rams even before any interviews. Ross apparently impressed Fisher so much that he actually started considering not going the Rams route and to the Dolphins. In fact, it was reported he wanted the Dolphins job, but also wanted more power than what Ross was willing to give him, which is why he went back to the Rams.

Anyways, now the Dolphins are interviewing the hot coordinators, just like every other team, but because they took a shot at the biggest name in the market, it is considered dysfunctional. There is nothing dysfunctional with interviewing a bunch of candidates before making your choice. Many of the most successful coaches in the league right now are in their first stints as head coach, what is wrong with Miami going that route? Nothing.

You want to talk dysfunctional franchises? Lets talk the Colts, who imploded without Peyton Manning. The Bills, who haven't made the playoffs since 1999. The Jets, who has players complaining and ripping each other and management. The Rams, who for the most part the past five years pick in the top 2 of the draft and threatening to move to LA. The Raiders, who saw their owner die and traded away the future for Palmer. The Jaguars, who just changed owners and might be on the move to LA. etc. So the Dolphins didn't get Fisher and will probably have Philbin or McCoy as head coach. Realistically, this is probably going to be the more successful route for the team. Ireland is not as bad as people think he is, and the fact that people's biggest beef with him is the prostitute question shows how ridiculous the hate for him is.

This team has talent, and lets be honest dooms day crowd, they underachieved. Whether it was Henne starting the season, Sparano as coach, the lockout, etc., this team was better than their 6-10 record. A lot of the games they lost were by one point or a few, and they barely lost to teams good teams like the Giants, Patriots and Cowboys. With the schedule they have in 2012, a new staff that will have an offseason to prepare(no lockout this year), this team can be good. Not saying they can win a division or a Super Bowl, but they can be in the playoff discussion at the end of the year.

I wouldn't call us dysfunctional, BUT I would say based on the talent we have (much like these teams the past decade) I would call us an underachieving team.

Unacceptable for them 'be in the playoff discussion' in 2012. That's what the people who were in favor of retaining Sparano last year was saying, that we'd 'be in the playoff discussion at the end of 2011.' When did this become acceptable for Dolphin fans?

When you have haven't been in the playoff discussion the past three years. Have to start somewhere.
