Why continue starting Frerotte instead of Sage Rosenfels if the results don't matter? Why not start the young QB who still might become something instead of the old journeyman who is already formed? Because the way Rosenfels played at Cleveland doesn't allow you to evaluate any of your players, never mind him. In losing 22-0, with his defense on the field too much and his offense not on the field nearly enough, Saban lost an opportunity to evaluate anybody. Frerotte at least keeps you in almost every game in a way that allows Saban to see who might and might not have a future here. And that's all this last month of the season is about -- figuring out who is good enough to keep because the Dolphins don't have enough good players.

Look at the undefeated Colts, for example. Running back? First-round pick. Quarterback? First-round pick. Primary receiver? First-round pick. Second receiver? First-round pick. Tight end? First-round pick. Left tackle? First-round pick. That's an awful lot of best-in-the-world talent at just the Indianapolis skill positions. The Dolphins, meanwhile, have only five players starting from the past five disaster drafts of Dave Wannstedt and Rick Spielman. Five. That's so awful that it is staggering that Saban has even been able to keep this ship floating with so much dead weight on it.

Try to remember that today when the Chargers make your Dolphins look hopeless and lost.

because beleive it or not but we still have a shot at the playoffs it's a long shot but Frerotte gives us the best chance of winning. We gave Sage the start against a bottom teir D in the Browns and he did so bad that we brought an injured Frerotte back into the game. He has been our back-up for 4 or 5 years and most of those years he was 3rd string, the coaches know he isn't good enough to make it as a starter in this league and one led comeback doesn't change that

he's right about indy...all those picks were 1st rounders and look at their defense all have been 1st rounders...soo this has been a 10 year experiment with them

This quote is awesome and should be used everytime someone makes a "LOL HAY GUYS SABAN SUCKS" thread:

that quote makes a good point, but why does he have to be so friggin negative all of the time?

you could make the comment that the dolphins have nothing to lose, chambers is starting to catch fire, the running game is one of the leagues best and getting better.

all of this is subjective. he always chooses the negative stance.

I agree that Frerotte should start until we're elimiinated from winning the division title. If we're eliminated, I think Sage should start the rest of the games. There is no denying that Sage had a terrible game vs. the Browns but Frerotte has had his fair share of bad games. One good game doesn't make you a good quarterback the same way one bad game doesn't make you a bad quarterback. If we're eliminated from playoff contention, I will watch all of the games (like I always do) hoping that we give guys like Sage a chance to show what they have.

The Colts rganization is a model or how things should be done.It took them several years to get to where they are and it will take us several years to equal their success.

The key is intelligent player adquisions and drafting.

I think Saban is correct in starting Gus.Sage feels more comfortable coming off the bench and playing in a two minute ,no huddle offense.

If the OL doesnt do a better job of protecting Gus we may have repeat of last weeks game

What he just said...:)

If we get eliminated, I say we start Gus but after the first incomplete pass we put Sage in, that way he cant overthink himself like he did with the Browns

Funny, I have been saying Saban is using Gus as the benchmark to measure the other players on Offense since the opening game, and Saban stinks, Gus stinks, etc threads started.

Glad to know, my quess, is supported by others able to spread the word. One thing is for sure. Saban is not a fool, and has valid, rational, reasons for all his personnel moves.

I also think Frerotte should start. If he's ineffective it will be easy to put Rosenfels in. I think Sage is better when he comes into a game and the defence isn't prepared for him. He's a good change of pace. Due to his limited playing time, teams won't have as much video of him. But if we start Sage and he doesn't play well, replacing him with Frerotte might not get results. Teams have seen Frerotte play and will be prepared for him. I think Frerotte's more effective as a starter.
