interesting isn't it ...

I also saw a graphic before Game 4 or 5 (can't remember which now) that stated the number of fouls committed in the NBA this year. Guess who was second overall ...

Amare Stoudewhiner, that's who.

Im surprised this thread hasn't been a little more popular.

People say Manu is the biggest flopper ever (see SpursTalk.com) and yet he isnt even Top 15.

I gave this thread one asterisk. Feel free to add more.

Umm, biggest flopper and drawing Off fouls don't go hand in hand...Drawing offensive fouled is a very underrated skill, and realistically there should be many more called every year...

I wouldn't say it's an underrated skill, but it takes guts to stand perfectly still while some dude that is probably 6'4 or taller comes running full speed at you.

Thanks for the bad 2 star rating. Much love

Offensive fouls do come from guys who have lots of courage to stand there and get rolled over. But IMO there flops mixed in there as well.

My point was to try and silence the critics who said Manu was the biggest flopper in the NBA. I'd figure that someone in the top 10 would be a bigger flopped and low and behold, could it be Bell? :gasp:

It's a two asterisk rating, which is pretty fitting

Anyways, I think that's a pretty simplistic approach. "Here's some stats, this is what they mean." I can take the same stats and twist them in another way and say that they mean that Bell has the ability to set his feet faster than most, which is a talent. But, when you actually watch the game, the flopping doesn't only come when taking a charge. Manu flops at damn near everything, further selling the foul. Now, don't get me wrong, Nash does the same thing, just not as often IMO. Actually, I would argue that Nash has a tendency to flop far more often than Bell. I think Bell is one of the most willing to stand there and get clobbered to draw the foul. He's a hard-nosed player on both sides of the ball, and that's what gets him in as much trouble as it gets him off. fouls drawn (awesome grammar).

I think that Simmons article posted in everyone's favorite thread summed up flopping the best. It's the result of an influx of foreign players. Now, that is in NO WAY a bad thing, but it's hard to dispute the fact that a rise in foreign players parallels a rise in flopping. I think he's spot on regarding it being carried over from the world's most popular sport, football/soccer/futbol/calcio/whateverthehellyouchoosetocallit. As long as it's legal, players will continue to do it, and I think that's unfortunate. I imagine it will be addressed by the league of extraordinary ******s soon.

See what I mean dude? "Manu flops at everything". "Nash does too but not as much", and "Bell is just a hardnose defender".

Still a me against you arguement.

I'm not gunna add fuel to the fire on this one

 Why post if you don't want people to provide opposing viewpoints? Seriously. By everything, I mean he doesn't just flop in charging situations. I don't mean he goes around throwing himself on the ground every play, though that would be pretty funny. Am I biased, sure. Are you? Hell yes. Oh noes, I just limited it to "sure" for me and "hell yes" for you. Oh geez, I'm sure that will get read into far too much. :rolleyes2 Instead of attempting to prove me wrong, you get all defensive. It's a debate in which no one can be 100% accurate, but it can still be discussed in a civil manner, which I think I was doing.

I personally think Manu does it more than Nash, hence the "IMO." That means, In My Opinion. It doesn't mean "this is a proven fact" since this is not something that can be proven unless you want to go through a hell of a lot of tape of the two players, and even then it can't be fully proven. Can't take my opinion? Don't respond or don't start these threads, because I WILL respond. It's a DISCUSSION board, not a "I'm going to post a statement and don't want any response that may challenge my statement" board.

Wish I could find the article I read over the weekend. It goes into detail about how "The Flop" is one of the ingredients to the decline of the NBA. Not hardly a player in the NBA that doesnt use it. What I find comical is how some of these guys get the call even when it is a BLATANT flop.

God, I hate flopping. The influx of European players helped to make this all the rage, players like Vlade Divac, the grandfather of all floppers.

NBA needs to get a handle on this, doesn't seem to hard to do.

 God damn Suns fan always knows how to interpret **** wrong. I'm all for opposing view points man. No problem at all with anyone voicing their opinions. I know this is a flippin discussion board, hell I've been here almost 3 years.
