Dan LeBatard, who has the same agent as Hickey and Philbin, said today on his radio show that Hickey's agent had to call Steve Ross when the Tannenbaum hire was announced and explain to him that Hickey's contract explicitly states that he has final say over personnel decisions. LeBatard said the entire organization still operates as if Tannenbaum was the GM.

I love LeBatard. But he is now an entertainer, not a journalist.

What a cluster. We keep Philbin, but hire someone to watch hickey who I thought had a good year.

I could care less about lebatards take here but if hickeys let go or even resigns after the draft it wouldnt surprise me

When did he call? When was this?

Why not fire Hickey if this was recent

I'm pretty sure if they fired Hickey, we'd likely lose a 1st round pick for violating the Rooney rule. If the league didn't hammer us, they'd be signaling to every team that you can skirt the Rooney rule by hiring someone under a title other than "GM" and then fire your GM soon after and promote the new guy. I don't think that's a fight the league wants to have.

There is no way Hickey resigns after the draft and passes up all that money. If it wasn't for Miami, Hickey would be a scout somewhere. His old boss, Mark Dominick, is not even in the league anymore. Remember Hickey was like our 10th choice. He could very well eventually be fired, but there is no way he is resigning.

Because that would look bad and would have started a entire avalanche of predictions about Philbin's future. This way Ross gets Hickey's services, avoids all the questions, and still gets "his guy" at the top. Ross sees it as a complete win. The only people who lose are Dolphins fans.

This can still work well if these guys can work together for the good of the team. Each has certain skills. The agent is a **** for disclosing this to LeBatard. Very unprofessional.

Tannenbaum has the power to FIRE Hickey tomorrow if he wants so who cares what Hickey's contract says

I have mixed views on Tannenbaum. I think Hickey did a pretty good job and has a good system....however I think Tannenbaum is a name people respect and that could lure potential big starts like Suh.

What scares me about Tannenbaum is if next season goes down the drain, we may only do a halfway change for the third time in a row.

you believe lebatard has any ****ing clue how our organization is run from the inside?

really?

I thought Ross's press conference he said Hickey has final word on all personnel after the Tannenbaum hire.
